REPORT ON THE COURTESY VISIT TO OGUN STATE AMBULANCE & EMERGENCY SERVICES (OGSAES)

The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Ogun State Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to the Ogun State Ambulance & Emergency Services (OGSAES) as part of its commitment to promoting the health and well-being of the people of Ogun State through strategic partnerships.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen collaboration with OGSAES in creating public awareness about the importance of emergency medical services and encouraging residents to make use of the OGSAES emergency hotline, 0811 200 0033, whenever urgent medical assistance is required.

During the meeting, both organizations discussed the need to educate the public on how to respond appropriately during medical emergencies and the importance of contacting the emergency response team promptly. YAN reaffirmed its readiness to leverage its platforms and network across the state to sensitize communities, particularly young people, on the availability of the free emergency response service.

The delegation commended the management and staff of OGSAES for their dedication to saving lives through prompt emergency medical interventions. In response, the management of OGSAES appreciated YAN for the visit and welcomed the proposed collaboration, expressing confidence that the partnership would help increase public awareness and improve access to emergency medical services throughout Ogun State.

The visit concluded with a mutual commitment to work together on awareness campaigns, community engagements, and other initiatives aimed at ensuring that more residents know and utilize the OGSAES emergency hotline (0811 200 0033) for quick and life-saving medical assistance.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YOUTH ASSEMBLY OF NIGERIA (YAN)

National Headquarters, Abuja

PRESS STATEMENT

YAN LIFTS BAN ON CAMPAIGNS FOR THE 2026/2028 NATIONAL ELECTIVE CONGRESS

Abuja, Nigeria
19th July, 2026

The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), National Headquarters, Abuja, has officially lifted the ban on electioneering campaigns ahead of its 2026/2028 National Elective Congress.

In a press statement issued by the National Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Famuyibo Oluwasegun, it was reaffirmed that the Constitution of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria provides for a two-year tenure for every elected administration. He further confirmed that, in line with the constitutional zoning arrangement of the organisation, the office of the next National Speaker has been zoned to the Northern region of Nigeria, and only qualified members from the region are eligible to contest for the position.

Reflecting on the achievements of the outgoing administration, the National Speaker stated that despite operating with limited resources and the general lack of institutional support for youth organisations, the administration has recorded significant milestones. These include the launch of the official YAN website, the successful implementation of youth-focused programmes across the country, the establishment of strategic partnerships with both local and international organisations for youth development, the strengthening of the organisational structure, and other reforms aimed at repositioning the Assembly as a leading platform for youth participation in national development.

Speaking further, Rt. Hon. Famuyibo Oluwasegun said:

โ€œWe have come a long way as an organisation. It is with immense joy and gratitude that we are concluding this administration on a positive note. We give all glory to God Almighty for granting us the wisdom, strength, and grace to serve. I sincerely appreciate every member, stakeholder, partner, and supporter who contributed to the growth and success of this administration.โ€

He further declared:

โ€œBy the powers vested in me as the National Speaker of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria, I hereby lift the ban on election campaigns with immediate effect. I encourage all eligible aspirants to commence consultations and conduct their campaigns in strict compliance with the Constitution, electoral guidelines, and the established traditions of our organisation. Let us embrace issue-based campaigns, mutual respect, and the spirit of sportsmanship as we prepare for another peaceful and credible democratic transition.โ€

The Youth Assembly of Nigeria remains committed to promoting transparency, accountability, democratic governance, and purposeful youth leadership. The National Headquarters assures all members that the forthcoming National Elective Congress will be conducted in a free, fair, credible, and peaceful manner in accordance with the Constitution of the Assembly.
