This is the house of Oluwole Agbo—one of the Egba warriors—and Olufakun Olafimihan, the first Balogun of Owu; it was the first place they slept upon arriving in Abeokuta, and the house is named Asunnara.

10th Biennial Convention | Egba National Association USA/Canada

The Egba National Association USA/Canada, as part of its 10th Biennial Convention and 20th Anniversary celebration, held its Diaspora Night Dinner at the Palace of the Olowu of Owu Kingdom on Thursday, 3rd September 2026.

Led by Arch. Olufela Abiodun Yemitan, the delegation paid homage to Kabiyesi and celebrated their homecoming to Abeokuta with Egba sons, daughters and children reconnecting with their roots.

With 18 chapters across the USA and Canada, the Association continues to promote cultural awareness, scholarships, community engagement and development projects while encouraging younger generations to embrace their heritage.

Kabiyesi encouraged them to embrace their roots, bring their children home and improve their ancestral homes so they can show their children and friends where they come from. He also appreciated the thoughtful gifts presented to him.

The Olowu Hope Initiative (OHI) was also presented, highlighting its impact in education, healthcare, youth development and community empowerment.

A beautiful celebration of homecoming, culture and heritage.

Bàbá Ọọ̀nirìṣà has been accorded the highest respect by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on several occasions, including when Obasanjo has prostrated in respect of Kabiyesi.

At the Olota’s 60th birthday celebration, the seating arrangement was according to the event protocol. Every invited dignitary had a designated seat, with names clearly written on the chairs to indicate where each person was expected to sit.
