MAWUKO AREA CDC HOSTS SUCCESSFUL ODEDA ZONAL MEETING
..Community Leaders Highlight Major Strides in Education, Health, Security and Youth Empowerment

The Mawuko Area Community Development Committee (CDC) on Wednesday 25th February, 2026 hosted the Odeda Zonal Meeting at Mawuko, Abeokuta, bringing together community leaders, traditional rulers, government representatives, and residents to deliberate on strategies for sustainable development within the zone.
The well-attended meeting commenced with an opening prayer, setting a solemn tone for the day’s deliberations.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of Mawuko Area CDC, Alhaji Kalejaye Muideen, outlined key achievements recorded under his administration, emphasizing education, youth empowerment, security, and infrastructure development.
He disclosed that the CDC has constructed three classrooms at OLG Primary School, Mawuko, reaffirming the committee’s commitment to prioritizing education. He appealed to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun -CON, to support the rebuilding of the school with modern facilities, including the distinctive yellow-roof structure, to create a more conducive learning environment.
According to him, pupils have also been empowered with school bags and learning materials to enhance their academic performance.
Alhaji Kalejaye further revealed that over 200 youths have been trained at the Chief Engr. Adekunle Adeoye ICT Training Center, while an additional 150 youths benefited from entrepreneurship training programmes.
He noted that these initiatives are aimed at equipping young people with digital and vocational skills necessary for economic independence and community advancement.
The Chairman highlighted the facilitation of boreholes in the community to improve access to clean water. He also appreciated Dr. (Mrs.) Folasade Adeyemo for constructing a bridge at Oniroko CDA, and commended Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu for the ongoing construction of the Iberekodo–Mawuko-Opeji road, praying for its successful completion.
On healthcare, he stated that the Arimieshin Primary Health Center currently provides essential services to residents but operates from a rented facility. He appealed to the Ogun State Government for assistance in securing a permanent site equipped with modern medical facilities. He also appreciated Governor Prince (Dr). Dapo Abiodun CON for approving the health center.
Addressing security matters, Alhaji Kalejaye commended the SO SAFE CORPS for maintaining safety of lives and property within Mawuko.
He added that Women and Youth Forum meetings are held regularly, fostering dialogue and peaceful resolution of issues within the community.
In his remarks, Odeda Zonal Chairman, Comrade Iyasere Emmanuel, applauded Mawuko Area CDC for its outstanding performance and urged leaders to sustain their efforts.
He advised aspiring leaders, saying, “If you want to become a CDA, CDC, Zonal or Senatorial Chairman, start doing good now.”
The Baale of Arimieshin, Chief Babatunde Balogun emphasized the importance of Community Development Associations (CDAs), urging residents to embrace love and unity. He also encouraged the establishment of community-based television channels similar to those operated by religious and social organizations.
The State Representative, Mrs. Oni, conveyed messages from the state government, stressing the need for timely Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and heightened security awareness among residents.
Similarly, the Odeda Local Government Area Representative, Mrs. Bolaji Abosede, announced that trade permit payments would now be processed via POS systems. She encouraged citizens to cooperate with authorities, remain security conscious, and ensure registration for their National Identification Number (NIN) and Permanent Voter Cards.
During the meeting, Comrade Iyasere inaugurated new executives for the zone, including leadership representatives from Opeji, Osioyemi and Alaseyori CDC. Additional members were appointed to the media team, including the Mawuko Area CDC Youth Forum Representative, Comrade Abiodun Paul Okusolubo.
Discussions throughout the meeting centered on strengthening grassroots governance and accelerating development across the Odeda Zone. Stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to initiatives aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11).
