In the last quarter, we have intervened in and mediated over 40 cases across different categories, reaffirming our commitment to peacebuilding through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Conflict Early Warning which most times takes us to the different parts of the state and it's environs.

We had our 2026 3rd Quarter State Meeting, bringing Branch Members, Volunteer leadership and Core Team members together to reflect on the organisation’s activities, strengthen collaboration, and plan ahead.

During the meeting, reports from branch activities were collected and verified, providing an opportunity to review progress and ensure accurate documentation of the work carried out across the branches. Members also discussed and made plans for the last quarter of the year, setting priorities and strengthening our collective commitment to achieving our goals.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to respectfully honour the memory of Alfred Nwizi, who was a deeply devoted branch member of Iziogo branch until his passing, and whose service, commitment, and contributions to HRCRC will always be remembered.
His dedication to the cause made a lasting impact, and his absence will be deeply felt by everyone who knew and worked with him.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us.

HRCRC’s Chioma, a member of the SPS West Africa Safeguarding Committee, participated in the 2026 Annual Safeguarding Seminar of St Patrick's Missionary Society (SPS), West Africa Region, which held from 2nd–7th August 2026 at the SPS Formation House, Owoye, Ijebu Imushin, Ogun State, Nigeria.

The Annual training which mostly covers important safeguarding issues, including the SPS Safeguarding Policy, protection of children also included adults at risk in this years Seminar, whilst highlighting types and effects of abuse, child rights, corporal punishment, responding to disclosures, safeguarding roles and responsibilities, code of conduct, consent and capacity, power and its misuse, confidentiality, and self-care.

Through interactive sessions and practical discussions, participants strengthened their knowledge and skills to promote safer environments and respond effectively to safeguarding concerns within their communities and institutions.

At HRCRC, we remain committed to promoting safe spaces where children, vulnerable adults, and all persons at risk are protected, respected, and treated with dignity.

For three weeks, Initial Formation Students of St Patrick's Missionary Society West Africa Region had their first holiday pastoral experience with HRCRC.

During their time with us, the students gained firsthand exposure to how peace is built, how conflicts are addressed, and how human rights work translates into meaningful action within communities. They engaged with our team, observed our work, asked questions, shared ideas and gained valuable insights into the importance of empathy, justice and peaceful conflict resolution.

But the experience was not one-sided. Their presence also brought fresh perspectives, curiosity and renewed energy to our organisation. Their questions challenged us to reflect, explain our work differently and appreciate the importance of creating opportunities for young people to learn about and contribute to peacebuilding.

We are proud and grateful to have been part of these students' formation, growth and hope that the knowledge and experiences gained during their three weeks with us will inspire them to become champions of peace, justice and human dignity wherever they find themselves.

Thanks to SPS, the formation team, the students, our beneficiaries, as well as the Medical Missionaries of Mary (MMM) Sisters and the Mile 4 (St. Patrick’s Hospital) community for their generosity to us and to the students; and for learning and engaging with us and becoming part of the HRCRC family. 💚

Three weeks may have ended, but the lessons, connections and impact will continue.

In the course of our work, we often travel long distances to remote villages, communities where the roads are rough, difficult, and sometimes not even motorable. Yet, we go because justice, peace, and dialogue should never be limited by geography and access.

Working hand in hand with traditional institutions, community elders, and local stakeholders, we listen, mediate, and help families and communities find peaceful resolutions to disputes. These collaborations remind us that lasting peace is built through trust, respect, and the collective wisdom of the people; just like this visit to the traditional ruler of Akwurakwu in Agba Community of Ebonyi State, in the course of mediating a land dispute involving a person with disability in his domain.

In the past week, HRCRC’s Board of Trustees held her first Statutory Meeting of 2026, bringing together members of the Board of Trustees and leadership to review our progress, strengthen our strategic direction, and reaffirm our commitment to promoting justice and mental wellness, protecting human rights, and building lasting peace across our communities.

The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on our achievements, discuss emerging priorities, and chart a clear path for impactful interventions in the year ahead.

We remain grateful to . Patrick’s Missionary Society – our mother organization, the Chairman of our Board and West Africa Regional Leader of St. Patrick’s Missionary Society, and other members of the Board; and we reaffirm our commitment to working with our partners, stakeholders, and communities to advance access to justice, peaceful conflict resolution, mental wellness, and the protection of human dignity.

Harping on the importance of mindfulness especially on teenagers and youths, HRCRC, through its Access to Mental Wellness Department, visited a school in Agubia before the long vacation for an engaging mindfulness session.

The session introduced students to simple mindfulness practices that can help them improve concentration, manage stress, regulate their emotions, and make healthier choices both in and outside the classroom.

By equipping young minds with these life skills, we are nurturing a generation that is more resilient, emotionally aware, and better prepared to thrive.
