International Day of the Girl Child (IDGC) celebrated by Initiative for Grassroots Interventions and Development in Education (IGIDE) in collaboration with Amaeke Alayi Development Foundation (AAEF) at Alayi Community Primary School Alayi, Bende LGA was strategically planned to serve two purposes. It was a day to reach the underserved community with information, for the very first time ,about the International Day of the Girl Child in a special way. Secondly, it was a day to empower learners in that rural school with every educational material that would make them stand out among their equals, ranging from government approved Text books, workbooks to exercise books etc.

< Hand Over Hand of 2,000 Recommend Textbooks, 2,000 40 & 60 leaves exercise books and other Education Materials - pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, dusters, crayons, sharpeners, cartons of both white and colour chalks etc to the school management. This event took place on the 16th Day of October, 2025.
In attendance were: Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, who represented the Commissioner, Basic and Secondary Education, Elder Goodluck Ubochi and Commissioner 2, who represented the ASUBEB Chairman, Lady Lydia Onuoha. Others were the Mayor of Bende LGA, Deacon BASSEY Uwabunkeonye , represented by his Ward councilor from Alayi, the Education Secretary of Bende LGA, Mrs Nneka Udensi, the Traditional Ruler of the community HRM, Eze Philip Ukeje, Igbojiakuru of Alayi, numerous titled men, school management team, former Chairman Bende LGA, Chief Sir Gabriel Elendu, Dr Mike Elendu, the Chairman of Amaeke Alayi Development Union (AADU), two representatives of the Board of Trustees of AAEF, Ugoeze Florence Izuka and Mrs Eunice Egbuna, the Executive Director of IGIDE, who also facilitated the Hand Over Event.
It was a very special events, never seen before in Alayi communities. Many parents pledged to return their children to a school where sons and daughters have swung into action to give quality education to their younger ones.
Finally, the Amaeke Alayi Education Foundation Foundation made an official declaration to commence a 5-unit modern toilet facility in the school.
In their various responses, the government representatives pledged to support the school by ensuring that more qualified teachers are sent to the school. In the same vein the school management team and parents made strong promise to secure the supplies and to make optimal use of them in order to improve pupils performances.
All the invitees were well entertained to their satisfaction.
