On Friday 28th November, 2025, we had a successful IRI JI (YAM FESTIVAL) Fellowship.

This joyous celebration is a cherished tradition in our culture and heritage, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the community.

During the festival, it was indeed a great pleasure of reconnecting with my brothers and friend because we recognize the importance of capturing the essence of such cultural events and sharing them with a wider audience in a Rotary way flagging the essence of supporting our society through donations to Rotary foundation.

New Yam festival, known as 'Iri-ji ohu,' is a revered celebration that promotes Igbo cultural heritage and weaves together spiritual and cultural significance, reinforcing the people's connection to their heritage, community and the divine blessings.

People offer prayers, rituals, and sacrifices to show their appreciation for a bountiful harvest and seek blessings for the coming year.

The New Yam Festival strengthens social ties within communities. It brings people together, fostering a sense of unity, cooperation, and solidarity.

In the course of our Iri-ji Omenala Fellowship, Guest and friends of Paul Harris gathered to share the cultural celebration all in service to humanity.

We sincerely want to appreciate all our guests, friends and well wishers to joining us in this fellowship.

In preparing to our forthcoming IRI JI fellowship, we paid a familiarization and invitation visit to HRH DESSY JIM AKATAOBI “EZEOHA lll of Ahiaba Ancient Kingdom today.

This visit was necessary to initiate our desires, aspiration and core plans towards Rotary international and community engagement.

To the above! We have resolved a change of date from 21st November to 28th November 2025 to fit in his convenience and strengthening our plans towards achieving a greater and different impact.

IRI JI FELLOWSHIP IN CELEBRATION OF OUR CULTURAL HERITAGE!!!

Iri Ji/ New yam Festival is an important way of marking the begining and end of the farming season, it is a celebration of the life, accomplishment and also a celebration of our Cultural Heritage. In Rotaract club of Aba Metropolitan, our cultural fellowship and activities is our Heritage and we must protect it in Fellowship and Service!!!

The event will be significant to have a traditional Ruler HRH Eze DESSY JIM AKATAOBI and it will truly reflect our fellowship and community spirit as members, friends, and guests will come together to honour tradition, share joy, donation to Rotary foundation and strengthen bonds.

From the storyline, cultural displays of attire and delicious new yam delicacies and palm wine, it will indeed be a memorable celebration of life and abundance.

: On 25th October, 2025, We the Rotaract club of Aba Metropolitan had the 4th Presidential and leadership transition in Aba. As we successfully installed the Unite for Good President Rtr chisom nwachukwu.

This is in line and structural guidelines of Rotary International but the significant part of this ceremony was our ability to carry out an Economic and Community development Project the same day to one Mrs Ogechi Chukwuma who we supported her with a baking OVEN worth 120,000 Naira.

It was indeed a moment of emotional and economical encouragement to boost her living and helping support our immediate Community.

We’ll continue to serve humanity

On Tuesday, 28th October, Rotaract club of aba metropolitan in partnership with Rotary Club of Aba Metropolitan successfully carried out a Basic Education and Literacy project at Osusu Amaukwa Primary and Secondary School, located in Obingwa LGA, Abia State.

This project was aimed at supporting the educational needs of pupils and students while promoting a more conducive learning environment.

As part of the outreach, we distributed 100 school bags to the learners, encouraging them to stay motivated and committed to their studies.

We sincerely appreciate the Rotary Club of Aba Metropolitan, the school management, and all members and volunteers who contributed to the success of this impactful initiative.

Together, we are building brighter futures through education! 💙📚
