TEMPLE GATE POLYTECHNIC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION AWARDS SCHOLARSHIP TO 14 STUDENTS IN MAIDEN EDITION
ABA, ABIA STATE - In a landmark move to give back to their alma mater, the Temple Gate Polytechnic Alumni Association (TGPAA) on Tuesday, 15th September, 2026, awarded scholarships to 14 indigent but outstanding students of the institution.
The maiden edition of the scholarship scheme was held at the Multipurpose Hall, Temple Gate Polytechnic, Aba, and witnessed an impressive turnout of stakeholders, members of the Alumni Association, partners, staff, and management of the institution.
The President of the Association, Comr. Azuakolam Iheanacho, in his address, said the initiative was born out of the desire to live out the school's motto - Knowledge and Skills to Serve Humanity - and to ease the economic burden on students while rewarding academic diligence.
Iheanacho expressed profound gratitude to alumni members whose generous financial contributions made the programme a success, noting that the love and support shown were overwhelming.
The selection process was hailed as transparent and credible, chaired by Pastor Mrs. Florence Umelo, a respected senior lecturer of the Polytechnic, who volunteered to serve as head of the screening panel.
In the same vein, the leadership of the Students' Union Government (SUG) was commended for its effective coordination and partnership which contributed immensely to the smooth ex*****on of the programme.
Speaking on behalf of the institution, the staff and management present expressed great delight over the initiative. They commended the Alumni Association for thinking home and for setting a worthy example of responsible alumni engagement, urging other alumni bodies to emulate the gesture.
The beneficiaries, who could not hide their joy, thanked the Association and promised to make judicious use of the support.
The TGPAA President assured that this maiden edition is only the beginning, promising that subsequent editions will be bigger, more inclusive, and will reach more students.
