MY ROTARY STORY
A Journey of Service: From Rotaract to Assistant Governor

The powerful story of service begins with a seed planted long before the harvest is understood.
Mine was planted at my father's feet.
He served as District Governor in 1998/1999 follow your Rotary dream and I watched him closely the meetings, the visits, the quiet sacrifices, the joy on the faces of people whose lives his projects touched and the happy moments he shared at the club level and District level.
I did not yet have the words for it, but something in me was taking root: a zeal to belong to this global family of service above self. My father was not just a Rotarian to me; he was my mentor, and his example became the compass I would follow for the rest of my life.
That compass led me, in 2007, into Rotaract club at Abia State University, Uturu — my first real classroom in leadership and service, long before I fully understood what I was being prepared for.
Ten years later, in 2017, I crossed the bridge from Rotaract into Rotary proper, joining the Rotary Club of Aba.
I did not arrive asking for a title; I arrived ready to work. That readiness carried me through the ranks — first as Sergeant-at-Arms, keeping order and discipline in our fellowship, then as Secretary, learning the club's heartbeat through its records, correspondence, and continuity. Each role deepened my understanding that Rotary is built one faithful assignment at a time.
In 2023, that path of service brought me to the presidency of the Rotary Club of Aba, in a year we named Create Hope. It was more than a theme; it was a mission. We set out to be a source of hope for our club, our community, and everyone our projects touched — and in leading that year, I felt my father's legacy and my own purpose finally speak with one voice.
Today, I serve as Assistant Governor, Zone 2, District 9142, and as Foundation Chair of the Rotary Club of Aba — roles that let me extend service beyond one club to a wider circle of clubs and communities. I am also honoured to be a Paul Harris Fellow, a recognition that humbles me even as it reminds me of how much more there is still to give.
From a young Rotaractor watching his father's footsteps, to Assistant Governor walking alongside fellow leaders across Zones and Districts this has been, and continues to be, a journey of service above self. My father sowed the seed. Rotary gave it soil. And every project, every fellowship, every hand I've had the privilege to shake along the way has been the harvest.
