*Welcome to March— Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Month*

As we step into the month of March, we proudly join Rotary International in focusing on one of the most essential needs of humanity — Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).

Access to clean and safe water is not a privilege; it is a basic human right. Proper sanitation preserves dignity, while good hygiene practices, such as regular hand-washing, play a vital role in preventing infections and reducing the spread of diseases.

This month, we renew our commitment to raising awareness, supporting sustainable water initiatives, and promoting healthy habits within our homes, schools, and communities. By working together, we can create safer environments and improve the quality of life for all.

On 17th February 2026, The Rotary Club of Aba had an in-house fellowship on peace building and Conflict Resolution.

In line with one of Rotary International’s seven Areas of Focus, Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention. The Rotary Club of Aba organized a strategic seminar aimed at deepening awareness, strengthening community dialogue, and promoting sustainable peace within our society.

The seminar took place at the residence of HRH. Rtn. Eze Eugene Ndimele and was facilitated by Rtn. Alozie Nwankwo, who delivered an insightful presentation on the origins, philosophy, and practical relevance of Rotary’s peacebuilding mission.

This initiative aligns with the global vision of Rotary International to build a more peaceful and resilient world through service, education, and dialogue.

Rtn. Nwankwo explained that peacebuilding has been at the heart of Rotary since its founding in 1905. However, Rotary formally institutionalized peace efforts through:
The establishment of the Rotary Peace Centers Program in 2002,
The training of Peace Fellows at leading universities worldwide,
Strategic partnerships with international institutions and local communities.

Today, Rotary supports peace education through:
Scholarships
Community mediation programs
Conflict resolution training
Youth empowerment initiatives
Dialogue-based interventions in fragile communities.
Rotary believes peace is not merely the absence of war but the presence of justice, opportunity, education, and mutual respect.

Rtn. Nwankwo stressed that sustainable peace begins at the local level, in neighborhoods, markets, schools, and homes.

The seminar delivered by Rtn. Alozie Nwankwo reaffirmed that peace is not accidental, it is intentional, structured, and sustained through leadership and service.
As Rotarians, we are called to be ambassadors of peace in our communities. The Rotary Club of Aba remains committed to advancing the ideals of Rotary through meaningful and measurable peacebuilding initiatives.

Dear Friends and Partners in Service.

Over the weekend, our Past President of the 2023/2024 Rotary Year, Rtn. Alvan Alozie Nwankwo, who has been appointed to serve as Assistant Governor for the 2026/2027 Rotary Year, joined other District Team Leaders at the just-concluded District Training and Learning Seminar (DTLS) held in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

In this coming Rotary year the *STAR* Year, where we are called to create lasting change, Rtn. Alozie will oversee Zone 2, supervising the Rotary Club of Osusu Aba, the Rotary Club of Osisioma Gateway, and the Rotary Club of Eziama Sunrise.

Rtn. Alozie is service-oriented, dedicated, and deeply committed to the ideals of Rotary. We are confident that he will excel in this new role and continue to make us proud.
