It owes its origins to a successful evangelistic programme conducted by Bishop Robert McAlister, a Canadian missionary in the Pentecostal tradition. Edir Macedo – who went on to found UCKG – was one of the early converts. With the blessing of Bishop McAlister, he started to hold services under a small park shelter in Rio de Janeiro. His passion was to reach out to needy, less privileged people who

were often excluded by established religions. As Pastor Macedo’s services grew in popularity, he used cinemas and local halls to accommodate growing congregations, attracting people from the streets to the expanding movement. Shortly afterwards the UCKG officially opened its first church inside a funeral parlour. Further church openings followed and the movement expanded nationally across Brazil. Today there are approximately 5,000 UCKG churches in Brazil, with the headquarters in Rio de Janeiro holding up to 12,000 people at a time.

There are moments in life when people feel overwhelmed, lost or emotionally drained by the challenges they face.

In times like these, if someone offered help and a way out, most of us would accept it without hesitation. Deep down, everyone longs for hope, support and a fresh start when life becomes difficult.

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine and go after the one which is gone astray until he finds it?” (Luke 15:4 NKJV)

No matter how distant someone may feel, or how long it has been, there is always a path back to Him. His arms are still open!

On Sunday, 31st May at 10am, our doors will be open to everyone, regardless of your past or the reasons you may have stepped away from your faith.

There is still time to change direction, rebuild your relationship with God and start again.

Self-esteem is essential for every human being to feel good about themselves. And as we age, it is essential to maintain self-esteem! After all, it is the phase when people begin to feel the “weight” of age and, many of them, end up failing to take care of themselves, in addition to generating problems such as isolation, depression and frustration.

The Caleb Group promoted this month the event beauty has no age. Volunteers and members recorded these moments with contagious joy. Several tips and treatment options were given, such as nail, skin, hair and makeup care, thus bringing the importance of preserving self-esteem.

The UCKG would love to thank all the volunteers for making this initiative possible. God bless our elders!

This April, the Caleb Group held another “Caleb Intercessor” event, focused on helping elderly people in old age homes.

The volunteers offered prayers, shared messages of faith, and spent time talking with the residents. These simple actions brought comfort, hope, and encouragement, especially to those who feel lonely or face challenges in old age.

“‘You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man, and fear your God: I am the Lord.” (Leviticus 19:32 NKJV)

A special vote of thanks to all our volunteers who helped rise up in support of our elders. May the God of the Bible bless you abundantly!
