Building Strong Starts in Gabis & Draaihoek (Karasburg East Constituency, //Kharas Region)

Lifeline/Childline Namibia is rolling out a phased infrastructure and learning environment improvement project in Gabis and Draaihoek, Karasburg East Constituency, //Kharas Region.

The initiative brings together the Right Start and Positive Parenting programs to strengthen early childhood development. The focus is simple and practical, improving school readiness, attendance, and participation while also responding to short-term food insecurity affecting vulnerable households in these communities.

The project directly supports parents, caregivers, and children enrolled at local ECD centers in both Gabis and Draaihoek, creating a safer, more supportive, and empowering space for early learning.

PHASE ONE is been set in motion through a two-week training workshop to prepare field staff, the rollout of the ECD feeding scheme, and active engagement with corporate and community stakeholders. The project has been warmly welcomed by the communities of these southern villages.

This work is implemented in collaboration with BW Kudu Limited, a subsidiary of BW Energy Limited, the main project sponsor.
