Empowerment in Motion

The Desert Research Foundation of Namibia (DRFN) and the Legal Assistance Centre (LAC) have just completed the final San Mobile Training Centre outreach in Omaheke – a powerful collaboration advancing learning, leadership, and legal empowerment among San women.

Over several days in Donkerbos and Farm Tsjaka, participants have explored themes of generational trauma, healing through culture, human rights, and leadership, while Donkerbos also hosted a Basic Business Management workshop.

The young San women facilitators, who were trained by the Women’s Leadership Centre, Women Action for Development, GIZ and NAFSAN, are now passing on that knowledge through their outreach work. LAC paralegal trainees have been joining the sessions to share insights on human rights and engage communities on legal matters.

This outreach marks the closing chapter of the current funding cycle of the San Mobile Training Centre - and celebrates collaboration in action.
📸 Stay tuned for portraits and stories from the field – showing how collaboration drives lasting change.

Empowering San Communities in Omaheke!

With support from international partners, the Desert Research Foundation of Namibia (DRFN) has launched the San Mobile Training Project, led by 4 young female facilitators trained in South Africa.

Workshops now underway cover vital skills like health & nutrition, childcare, gardening, cooking, first aid, and civic & human rights education—empowering San women and girls in remote areas to build stronger, healthier communities.

👏 Big thanks to GIZ, NAFSAN, and WLC for their training support. Together, we’re creating opportunities and hope for a brighter future!
