This , Stampriet Aquifer Uranium Mining Association (SAUMA) stands in solidarity with Namibiaโ€™s leading environmental protectors. As the world focuses on "๐—ข๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—ฃ๐—ผ๐˜„๐—ฒ๐—ฟ, ๐—ข๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—ฃ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜," we are reminded that our greatest power lies in protecting our most vital local resource: the Stampriet Transboundary Aquifer System (STAS).

The threat of ISL uranium mining puts the lifeblood of the Omaheke and Hardap regions at risk. We believe that a sustainable future isnโ€™t just about clean energy - ๐—ถ๐˜โ€™๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐˜ ๐—ฐ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ.

Is it development or displacement? Reinhold Mangundu explores the hidden costs of uranium mining near the Stampriet Aquifer. While profits and jobs are often promised, the long-term risks to Namibiaโ€™s groundwaterโ€”the foundation of survival for 50,000 peopleโ€”cannot be ignored. This article exam...

Over the weekend, NEWS teamed up with Sec Namibia for an awesome outing at Avis Dam.๐Ÿฆ

26 members from the Ella du Plessis School Environmental Club joined in for a morning of birdwatching, using binoculars and bird guides to identify different species, while diving into some great discussions about birds and conservation.

The energy was incredible, learners were curious, engaged, and eager to learn! Big shoutout our outing coordinator Agnes Shivute for helping make this initiative a reality ๐Ÿ™Œ

Thereโ€™s No Such Thing As The Great Indoors! This is the key message of the NEWS programme to inspire and create an interest in young Namibians about the natural environment.
But, to get kids outdoors, we need camping equipment. Do you have unused camping chairs and tables, an old tent, or sleeping bags knocking around?

Please consider donating some of these items to NEWS.
We have a number of interesting places on our bucket list, where we can experience some real outdoor ecology and learn about particular animals and environmental issues. The first outing will be to Arnhem Cave, planned for early March 2026.

These outings have approval through the Schools Environmental Clubs (SEC) from the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport and Culture (MEIYSAC). NEWS will have biodiversity experts on-hand for hands-on experience with birds, bats, trees and more.

Old tents never die, they just lose their poles. Thatโ€™s OK, we will mix and match to make them usable. Please consider this worthy cause for some of your old stuff that can be rejuvenated!
