FES in collaboration with LaRRI is hosting a Workshop Programme on Strengthening Trade Union Engagement in Namibia’s NDCs and Just Transition.

The workshop brings together trade union representatives and key stakeholders to strengthen understanding and engagement around Namibia’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and promote a just and inclusive transition.

On Tuesday, 30 June 2026, the Labour Resource and Research Institute (LaRRI) attended the Technical Workshop on the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS) for the Khomas Region, held at Avani Hotel in Windhoek. The workshop brought together stakeholders to discuss the Statistics Act No. 9 of 2011, data security, the quality of official statistics, and the implementation of the NSDS, reinforcing the importance of reliable data in supporting evidence-based planning and informed decision-making in Namibia.

On Friday, 19 June 2026, the Labour Resource and Research Institute (LaRRI) attended the Public Hearing convened by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economy and Industry, Public Administration and Planning. The hearing focused on the motion: "Whether the existing laws are truly protecting Namibians from exploitation by lending institutions and informal money lenders." The programme commenced with welcoming remarks by Hon. Ipumbu Shiimi, Chairperson of the Standing Committee, followed by submissions from the Micro-Lenders Association of Namibia, the Namibia Consumer Trust, and the Economy and Social Justice Trust. The event brought together various stakeholders to exchange perspectives on consumer protection, financial inclusion, and regulatory frameworks in Namibia.
