Shimmy for Shelter Shimmy for Shelter is an annual event, aimed as raising funds towards animal welfare It never goes unappreciated. Thank you.

" Shimmy for Shelter" is the initiative of Sascha Olivier-Sampson, founder/instructor/choreographer/dancer for Moon Goddess Dance Studio. It is the Namibian contribution to World Belly Dance Day, an event which happens annually on the 2nd Saturday of May. The aim of "Shimmy for Shelter", which was established in 2010, is to raise money for charity while raising awareness about the art form. Dancer

s the world over who choose to take part in World Belly Dance Day, arrange events to raise money for charities of their choice. In the case of " Shimmy for Shelter" the charity is always an animal welfare organisation and over the years has included:
•SPCA Windhoek
•SPCA Walvis Bay
•Tierschutzverein Swakopmund
• Have a Heart
• Namibia Dog Matters
• Cat Protection Society
• EHRA
• Namib Desert Lions
• ISAP
* Triglav Trust
A lot of the success of "Shimmy for Shelter" is due to the kind acts and contributions by valued supporters who offer their time, resources, services etc to help raise as much money for animals in need

For those who like this idea and would like to do something similar, thank you so much for all your support and your enthusiasm to help. Please note however that the name "Shimmy for Shelter" is under the ownership of Sascha Olivier-Sampson and therefore cannot not be used unless in conjuction with her event and therefore there needs to be an agreement between the various parties.

I will update you on all the important info this week, but for now let me just say THANK YOU to every dancer, teacher, sponsor, crew member, audience member, media outlet, family and friends. Without your support this would not be possible and I'm beyond grateful.

Thank you to all our Shimmy for Shelter 2024 supporters, performers and sponsors. I appreciate you all so much. Congratulations to our beneficiaries for this year, in Swakop it is Have-a-Heart Namibia who will receive N$7500 and in Windhoek Cat Protection Society of Namibia who will receive N$16640. We hope it makes a difference and we appreciate the work you do
