Pupkewitz Group: Building One Business Through Its Subsidiaries

The Pupkewitz Group demonstrates how a diversified organisation can use subsidiaries to function as one larger business. The subsidiaries are not simply separate companies placed under the same ownership. They can be viewed as specialised components of a wider business system, each contributing its own products, expertise and market knowledge.
The central idea is therefore integration through diversity. Pupkewitz can operate across different industries because its subsidiaries specialise in different areas, while the holding-company structure, shared values and common brand help connect those businesses.

In this sense, Pupkewitzโ€™s approach can be described as one business made stronger by many specialised businesses. The subsidiaries give the Group flexibility and expertise, while the Group gives the subsidiaries a common identity, strategic direction and organisational foundation.

Supporting nonprofit organizations goes beyond funding daily operations - it involves strengthening their ability to create lasting change. As part of our commitment to sustainable community development, we are proud to provide a Capacity-Building Grant for Culinary Arts Equipment to the Youth Campus in Katutura, dedicated to vocational education and skills development for the Sparklab Kitchen.

This grant is designed to strengthen the One Economy Foundationโ€™s internal capacity by equipping its culinary arts training facilities with modern, high-quality equipment. This investment enhances the organizationโ€™s infrastructure, enabling it to deliver more effective, efficient, and sustainable culinary arts education for years to come.

The new culinary arts equipment will significantly improve the learning environment for 120 students enrolled in vocational training courses. Access to industry-standard tools and equipment allows trainees to develop practical, hands-on skills that reflect real workplace conditions.

We are honored to partner with the One Economy Foundation in advancing skills development and creating pathways to opportunity. We want to thank Pupkewitz Catering for their technical expertise in industrial kitchen layout. Together, we are investing not only in equipment but also in people, potential, and a future where vocational education empowers individuals, strengthens communities, and contributes to sustainable economic growth.

The CEO of The Pupkewitz Foundation, Ms Meryl Barry, was honoured to join former First Lady of Namibia and One Economy Foundation Chairperson Monica Geingos, Swakopmund Municipalityโ€™s CEO Aleus Benjamin, and the One Economy Foundation leadership for this milestone.

From Legacy to Lasting Impact: Investing in Namibiaโ€™s Communities

The late Harold Pupkewitz believed that a nationโ€™s greatest asset is its people, whose vision, determination, and contributions shape its future.

We continue to honour the legacy of a remarkable
philanthropist whose vision and compassion continue to inspire us today. Our commitment to advancing communities reminds us that true impact is measured not only by what we achieve, but by the lives we touch and the opportunities we create for future generations.
In honour of Haroldโ€™s birthday and his long-standing tradition of giving back, we are proud to celebrate this special milestone by awarding grants to organizations making a meaningful impact in communities across our six grantmaking areas.

The Pupkewitz Foundation celebrates a significant milestone with a decade-long partnership with First National Bank of Namibia (FNB), and Ohorongo Cement.

Addressing Namibiaโ€™s affordable housing backlog requires coordination action from government, organized communities, civil society, and responsible private sector partners.

โ€œThe partnership renewal reflects continuity, institutional confidence, and a shared commitment to scalable, community-led housing solutions that are accountable, sustainable, and development-oriented. Access to adequate housing is a cornerstone of social stability, health, and economic participation which is integral to Namibiaโ€™s broader development objectivesโ€. Ms M Barry.

Since 2016, The Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia has delivered more than 530 houses valued at over N$23 million.

The Shack Dwellers Federationโ€™s approach shows that effective housing delivery is achieved when communities actively participate through savings mobilisation, discipline d reimbursement, and involvement in planning and construction.
