The Mineworkers Union of Namibia (MUN) continues with its annual familiarisation visits across its branches and regions nationwide.

While these visits are a constitutional obligation, the Union’s leadership continues to utilise this platform as an important opportunity to engage directly with members, share best practices, and provide strategic guidance to branches and units alike.

The visits also serve as a forum to discuss matters affecting workers’ interests, advance improved working conditions, strengthen organisational capacity, and promote constructive industrial relations with employers. Through these engagements, the Union reaffirms its commitment to providing strategic support, reinforcing organisational structures, and ensuring that workers’ voices remain at the centre of all efforts aimed at improving their livelihoods and workplaces.

As the MUN approaches 40 Years of representing, protecting, and empowering workers, these visits remain a vital part of building a stronger, more united organisation.

Road to 40 Years of MUN!

On Tuesday, 2 June 2026, the MUN brought Namibia’s leading media houses together for a relaxed engagement over a game of bowls as part of the build-up to our 40th anniversary celebrations taking place this November. The gathering created an opportunity to strengthen relationships with the media and reflect on the important conversations shaping the future of workers in Namibia.

Among the issues highlighted was the need for Namibians to move from the bottom of the mining value chain to its centre, with greater ownership, participation, and equity for the workers who help drive the industry forward. This engagement is one of several steps forward towards the celebration, with regional roundtables on labour reform, value-chain participation and worker welfare to follow.

“As we approach 40 years of service, we reflect on the impact we continue to make in the lives of workers and communities. We are here today because we appreciate the vital role the media plays in keeping the public informed on the issues that affect workers, industries and communities,” as underlined by President of the MUN, Poco-Key Mberiuana.

Exhaustion is not always physical. Sometimes it comes from pressure we never speak about, and the emotions that are pushed aside.

You can be doing your job, showing up every day, and still feel completely drained inside. This is why it is important to rest when you need to and talk about what you're going through with someone.

You deserve support, not silence.
