Acting United Nations Namibia Resident Coordinator and UNFPA Namibia Representative, Erika Goldson, welcomed Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to the UN House on his arrival in Namibia for the 5th Regional Ministerial Steering Committee Meeting for Southern Africa.

The two-day meeting will advance efforts on domestic health financing, universal health coverage, local manufacturing and stronger, more self-reliant health systems.

On , extends its appreciation to the , Delegation of the European Union to Namibia, Türk İşbirliği ve Koordinasyon Ajansı Başkanlığı - TİKA and the The Commonwealth Heads of Mission for their partnership in supporting communities affected by Namibia’s prolonged drought.

Through this support, UNFPA has worked with communities and partners to strengthen resilience, access to essential services and the capacity of vulnerable populations to cope with the impacts of climate-related shocks.

Thank you for standing with Namibia’s communities and helping ensure that no one is left behind.

UNFPA Namibia conducted integrated field visits last week in Kunene, Ohangwena and Zambezi, engaging learners on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), including Technology-Facilitated GBV (TFGBV), Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), HIV, teenage pregnancy, disability inclusion and the empowerment of girls and boys.

The sessions created space for young people to share, learn and discuss issues affecting their lives and wellbeing.

UNFPA Safeguard Young People Programme is helping young people in Mangetti Dune, Tsumkwe 🇳🇦 build tailoring skills and earn income to support themselves and their families.

Six young people are currently part of the sewing project, producing clothes including school uniforms.
