On 4 June, Ukraine commemorates the memory of children whose lives were taken as a result of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

For more than 12 years, Ukrainian children have suffered from Russian aggression. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, they have become targets of a systematic policy of terror, deportation, forced assimilation, militarisation, and the erasure of Ukrainian identity.

One of Russia’s gravest crimes remains the illegal deportation and forced transfer of Ukrainian children. Russia conceals information about their whereabouts, alters their personal data, imposes Russian citizenship, places children in Russian families and state institutions, and subjects them to ideological indoctrination, militarisation, and forced Russification.

Through the President of Ukraine’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative, and in cooperation with state institutions, civil society, and international partners, Ukraine is building a comprehensive system for the identification, return, rehabilitation, and reintegration of children affected by Russian aggression.

An important instrument in these efforts is the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, co-chaired by Ukraine and Canada. It coordinates international efforts related to locating children, ensuring their safe return and reintegration, documenting crimes, strengthening sanctions pressure, and holding perpetrators accountable.

We urge partners to strengthen support for the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children. We also call on states and international organisations to maintain and strengthen sanctions against all individuals and entities involved in the illegal deportation, forced transfer, militarisation, indoctrination, and illegal adoption of Ukrainian children.

We remember every child whose life was taken by Russia.

We fight for every child whom Russia seeks to take away from Ukraine.

We will bring every Ukrainian child home.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha regularly issues formal statements to commemorate Africa Day (celebrated annually on May 25). He highlights historical ties, mutual support for sovereignty, and Ukraine's ongoing role in providing global food security while emphasizing robust partnerships in education, IT, and economic development with the continent.

Minister Sybiha honors the deep historical ties between Ukraine and African nations, specifically recalling Ukraine’s historical advocacy during global decolonization and the work of Ukrainian UN peacekeepers in Africa.

He stresses that despite the ongoing Russian aggression, Ukraine remains a highly reliable partner in ensuring global food security and expanding trade.

The minister frequently quotes African proverbs on mutual progress (e.g., "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together") to signify a vision of Ukraine and Africa walking as equal partners toward self-sufficiency and lasting peace.

Today, as the world celebrates Africa Day, Ukrainian educational institutions proudly join in extending warm congratulations to the people of the entire African continent.

For many years, Ukraine has been a reliable partner for Africa in the field of education. Thousands of African students have gained quality knowledge in Ukrainian universities, building strong bridges of friendship, mutual respect, and cooperation between our nations.

From Ukraine to all of Africa — we celebrate your rich culture, incredible potential, and remarkable spirit. May this day inspire even stronger partnerships, new opportunities, and lasting peace.

Happy Africa Day! 🌍

Happy Europe Day 🇪🇺

Europe was built on freedom, equality and democracy: values that matter more than ever today for all of us. For Europeans, Namibians and for Ukrainians.

Historically, culturally, and by its values, Ukraine has always been part of Europe. Today Ukraine defends the values that define Europe’s strength.

Europe Day is a great moment to mark what unites us all, and we truly do share so much.

President Zelenskyy issued an official decree allowing Moscow to conduct its annual May 9 parade. It states that Ukraine will not target Red Square for the duration of the parade.

This comes right after Ukraine and Russia agreed to a major 1000-for-1000 POW exchange and a three-day ceasefire starting May 9 and ending May 11.

As Ukraine and the world mark the 81st anniversary of victory over Na**sm and the end of the Second World War in Europe on May 8, Moscow continues to glorify the so-called "Great Victory" on May 9 – not to honour the victims, but to justify its aggression.

At the same time, Russia will not display military equipment at this year's parade. This clearly shows that Russia is acting out of fear and weakness.

Also, Russia has revoked foreign journalists access to the traditional May 9 Victory Day military parade on Red Square and restricted access to Red Square for the public for 2 weeks.

Besides that, Moscow is experiencing significant, state-imposed mobile internet shutdowns.

On this Day of Remembrance and Victory over Na**sm in World War II, we honour millions of people whose lives were taken by this war, as well as those who defended the world from Na**sm.

World War II became one of the most terrible tragedies in human history. Millions of Ukrainians served in various armies of the anti-Hitler coalition and took part in underground resistance, as our land became the site of major battles and immense human suffering. World War II took the lives of more than 8 million Ukrainians.

The year 1945 did not bring lasting peace to Ukraine – in another totalitarian regime, the Soviet Union, repression continued. Today, Ukraine is once again forced to defend its freedom and the security of all Europe against Russian aggression.

The memory of World War II should serve as a call for responsibility and determination to defend a just and lasting peace.

❗️15th incident during the occupation: Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was in blackout again

Today, on the 40th Anniversary of Chernobyl disaster, on April 26, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant again lost external power supply due to the shutdown. The plant went into blackout mode and operated for more than an hour and a half from 19 reserve diesel generators.

The situation once again confirms the need to return the plant to full control of Ukraine as soon as possible.
