The Namibia Tourism Boardโs inaugural MICE Training event kicked off yesterday in Swakopmund, marking a significant milestone for Namibiaโs Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions sector. With around 35 participants from hospitality, travel agencies, public sector bodies including municipalities and the Agronomic Board, academia, and media, this official training programme is the first of its kind to address the industryโs growing needs.
A highlight of the event was the introduction of the Namibia Convention Bureau by Manager Esther Ndilula. Established in July 2024, the Bureau is gearing up for a national call-out to Namibian businesses involved or interested in the MICE industry. Collaboration between the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) and NTB is recognised as crucial for sustainable growth and long-term success, with a shared vision to build the strong and recognisable Brand โMICE Destination Namibia.โ
All Namibians are urged to recognise their role as national ambassadors, as the countryโs reputation and success in hosting international events depend on offering efficient, engaging, and uniquely Namibian experiences; through cuisine, culture, and more.
Key factors highlighted for attracting MICE markets include accessibility (air travel and visa facilitation), ease of mobility within the country, and security encompassing political stability, health, safety, and quality assurance.
Over the coming days, participants will engage in workshops and discussions focused on best practices, with a clear emphasis on flexibility and adaptation to meet the dynamic needs of the global MICE landscape. This initiative truly sets Namibia on a promising path to position itself as a preferred MICE destination.
