𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

From 17–19 August, the Gondwana Care Trust team travelled to Swakopmund and Walvis Bay to reconnect with five community partners and see how our support is making a difference on the ground.

From the DRC Women's Community Project supporting 175 children, to Yahweh Ds Primary School creating an inclusive space for children with autism and Down Syndrome, every visit highlighted the power of community-led initiatives. We also visited Stepping Stepping Stone School, where a new greenhouse will help build greater self-sufficiency, ODEC Swakopmund, where daily meals support hundreds of children and young people, and Promiseland, whose soup kitchen provides meals for around 500 children on a daily basis, apart from weekends, and about 300 during school holidays.

Projects like MealForTwo and our Back-to-School initiatives are about more than immediate support. They help our partners redirect resources, strengthen their programmes and create opportunities that can have a lasting impact.

𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗻𝘀

Across Namibia, from the canyons of the south to the Zambezi River in the north, heart-shaped frames stand as symbols of connection, compassion and positive change.

These hearts form part of Hearts Across Horizons, an initiative that represents the social impact of the Gondwana Care Trust and the communities, partners and people who help make that impact possible.

From one horizon to the next, each heart is a reminder that meaningful change reaches far and wide across Namibia.

𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆, 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆

The Gondwana Care Trust recently procured five sensory activity boxes from Dream Team Sensory Boxes Walvisbay to support community partners across Namibia.

The first two boxes were handed over to Etuhole Pre-Primary School and Day Care and Pinkelnosie School in Windhoek, where the children wasted no time exploring the activities inside. Designed to encourage hands-on learning, the boxes help develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, problem-solving, creativity and independence.

For the Care Trust, the children's immediate excitement was a wonderful reminder of the impact that simple, practical resources can have on learning and development.

Sensory boxes will also be heading to community partners in Walvis Bay, Katima Mulilo and Windhoek.

Say hello to Ndapwa Alweendo, the newest member of the Gondwana Care Trust team! Ndapwa joins as Care Trust Manager, bringing close to a decade of experience across civil society, media and policy in Namibia.

She's drawn to the work of moving past good intentions to real impact, communicating clearly what’s being done and why, and making sure people know how to access resources and get involved.

Our Gondwana Care Trust team has been busy creating sensory boxes designed to encourage curiosity, creativity and learning through play. Filled with bright colours, different textures and fun shapes, these boxes are created to help young children explore their senses while supporting early development and imagination.

We are excited to deliver them and share the joy they bring.

𝟯𝟬𝟲 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀

Today, representatives of the Gondwana Care Trust joined forces with Help4Nam Charity Organisation to volunteer at a soup kitchen cookout hosted at the Methodist Wesley Church.

As part of our contribution, the Trust sponsored food items for the cookout, helping to provide warm, balanced meals and fresh fruit to 306 community members — including 43 adults and 263 children.

Initiatives like these remind us of the power of collaboration. By working together with dedicated community partners, we can extend our reach, strengthen our impact and help ensure that children and families in our communities have access to nutritious meals and the support they need.

A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who generously gave their time, energy and compassion today. Your commitment made this initiative possible, and your kindness touched the lives of many.

𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲

The Gondwana Care Trust, together with Edmund Shipulwa, recently had the pleasure of handing over a donation to Onakasinno Primary School in support of both teaching and learner well-being.

The donation included a printer, copy paper and printer cartridge, valued at N$11,299.86, providing the school with essential resources to assist with daily administrative tasks, lesson preparation and learning materials. In addition, thanks to the generosity of Namib Mills, the school also received two 50 kg bags of macaroni and maize meal, helping to support the school's feeding programme and ensure that learners have access to nutritious meals.

Access to the right educational resources and proper nutrition plays a vital role in creating an environment where children can learn and thrive. We are grateful to Tate Eddy for facilitating this handover and to Namib Mills for their generous food donation.

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲: 𝗨𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀

Umbrella Initiatives is a hands-on NGO that supports a network of projects across Namibia through training, knowledge sharing, and the cross-pollination of resources. By connecting donors with registered NGOs and fostering collaboration between organisations, they help maximise the reach and effectiveness of community support initiatives.

During 2025, the Gondwana Care Trust and Umbrella Initiatives began working together on various projects aimed at supporting communities. Through this partnership, the Trust contributed food parcels and logistical support for events in Rundu and Keetmanshoop, helping ensure that assistance reached those who needed it most.

We are proud to partner with organisations like Umbrella Initiatives, whose collaborative approach, commitment to capacity building, and dedication to strengthening the NGO sector continue to create lasting positive impact across Namibia.
