Exciting Days Ahead for ERP Namibia and the Embry-Riddle Team!

ERP and the brilliant students from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University are en route to Namibia’s Kwando area for their second field mission, where they’ll be testing the design and functionality of the innovative Elephant “Shoo” system.

Located within the Bwabwata National Park—part of the world-renowned KAZA Transfrontier Conservation Area—Kwando sits at the heart of Africa’s most vital elephant migration corridor. The Kwando River system connects Botswana, Namibia, and Angola, offering critical seasonal pathways for over 280,000 elephants.

The Elephant Shoo system is a cutting-edge solution designed to reduce human-elephant conflict. Using a combination of thermal imaging, radar, and AI, the device detects elephant movement and triggers ground vibrations and audio signals to safely deter them from crop fields and settlements.

This tech is set to make a real impact—protecting communities, preserving wildlife, and restoring harmony along one of Africa’s most contested frontiers.

Thank you to African Monarch Lodges for providing the accommodation & logistical support!
