✨ EMPOWERING YOUNG WOMEN THROUGH CRAFT in NYAE NYAE ✨
In February 2026, the Nyae Nyae Development Foundation of Namibia (NNDFN) launched a new crafts training project for 20 young women aged 18–25 from the Nyae Nyae Conservancy. Over the course of a week, the participants learned how to create colourful beaded craft products, developing both creative and practical skills that can support future income opportunities.
The training focused on producing high-quality beadwork items that can be sold through the G!hunku Crafts Shop, helping young artisans connect their traditional creativity with real market opportunities.
The results were inspiring. The participants showed remarkable creativity, experimenting with patterns, colours, and designs to produce beautiful necklaces, bracelets, and decorative pieces.
At the end of the training, the best products were purchased and placed on display at the newly renovated G!hunku Craft Centre. For many of the young women, it was a proud and exciting moment to see their own creations showcased and ready for sale.
This initiative is part of our ongoing work to strengthen local livelihoods, support youth empowerment, and promote cultural craftsmanship in the Nyae Nyae Conservancy.
🙏 This activity was fully funded through the support of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) with funding from the TUI Care Foundation.
