The first session of the year kicked off on 27 March 2026 featuring an enlightening guest lecture by Mr. Mathys du Preez, General Manager: Legal and Compliance at SanlamAllianz Namibia.

His presentation on of Retirement provided students with an understanding of basic principles and financial mathematics required to convert the client’s retirement income need into a targeted capital amount at retirement and how the annual (monthly) savings that would be required to meet this capital goal is determined.

is a collaborative initiative between the NaSIA Namibia Savings and Investment Association and the University of Namibia (UNAM) School of Accounting, aimed at helping bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice and connecting students with industry professionals.

Students from UNAM School of Accounting had the opportunity to engage with Mr. Mathys du Preez and expressed their appreciation for the session, which deepened their understanding of financial principles and their relevance in professional practice.

Joining us as a panelist is Dr. Johannes-Indongo, a senior economist and policy analyst specializing in sustainable finance, capital markets, and development finance. Based in Windhoek, she holds a PhD in Economics from the University of the Western Cape and currently serves as Senior Policy Analyst at the NaSIA Namibia Savings and Investment Association

She plays a key role in shaping Namibia’s non-banking financial landscape, engaging with regulators, government, and industry to advance evidence-based policies that promote financial inclusion, sustainability, and economic resilience. Renowned for her strategic insight and analytical rigor, Dr. Johannes-Indongo is a respected voice in Namibia’s evolving financial policy ecosystem.

This programme is funded by the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ Namibia through the ProBATS II project, in partnership with CEFE International and the Namibia Investment and Finance Academy (NIFA Academy).

The recent NaSIA Namibia Savings and Investment Association Career Day featured Ms. Mahevo Kadhepa from Ashburton Investments.

Her presentation focused on classification of financial markets, the role of financial institutions, and the use of equity and debt instruments in mobilizing funds for growth.

This session also provided students from the University of Namibia (UNAM) School of Accounting valuable insights into how businesses raise and manage capital to drive sustainable development.

On Friday morning, the NaSIA Namibia Savings and Investment Association proudly hosted a Thought Leadership Breakfast under the theme “𝘜𝘯𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘕𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘢’𝘴 𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦: 𝘔𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘋𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘚𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩.”

We began the morning with an insightful presentation from Meameno Johannes, Ph.D Johannes, titled “𝘖𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘓𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦: 𝘈 𝘊𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵.” Her presentation unpacked Namibia’s infrastructure investment gap and outlined the strategic case for leveraging domestic capital (especially pension fund assets) to finance bankable, high-impact projects.

We were honoured to welcome Nina Yose CA (SA) MBA, our guest speaker from the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), South Africa. Ms. Yose shared the IDC’s funding model and infrastructure financing track record across South Africa and the region highlighting key lessons, successes, challenges, and future opportunities relevant to Namibia’s evolving infrastructure needs.

The session was followed by a robust panel discussion, moderated by Vetumbuavi Mungunda Mungunda, and featured esteemed panelists:

🔹 Heike Scholtz – Development Bank of Namibia
🔹 Rauna Mukumangeni – of Finance Namibia (PPP Unit)

Their contributions sparked important reflections on regulatory frameworks, risk-sharing models, project preparation, and the role of blended finance in unlocking long-term capital for infrastructure development.
