🎉Day 2 update!

The NAWA team and local volunteers have spayed and neutered…

🐾🐶😺 36 cats and dogs in the Soetdoring area of Stampriet!

Wahoooo!!

NAWA leaves very lucky cats and dogs who now have a healthy and long life ahead of them, in the loving care of the families who made the right/smart choice and brought them to NAWA for spaying, neutering, vaccinations and much needed parasite control.

🌟Exhausted, happy and busy with sterilising the surgery as we speak because tomorrow the NAWA surgical trailer heads 100 kms away to the Aranos settlement.

NAWA on the road again. Yaay!

The vet team is heading South this time with our surgical trailer to the beautiful Eirup, Stampriet and Aranos areas.

The plan is to spay and neuter (plus vaccinate) as many companion animals as we can for the rural communities that service the farms in the area.
It is important at ANY time of the year but especially at this time because it prevents unwanted litters heading into Spring, and the wet season, which presents all sorts of zoonotic diseases which puppies are prone to and can pass on to the community members they live with.

📌Plus it reduces the number of stray animals on streets and in shelters,
📌Plus it helps pets live longer, healthier lives by lowering their risk of certain cancers and dangerous infections.

Yes! NAWA has been quiet on the socials because we have been busy!

VERY busy with:

🐶😺Spay and neuter outreaches
Emergency life saving treatment and care
Emergency surgical procedures
🐎🫏Horse and donkey treatment and guidance
Criminal cases
New staff appointments

And all, while turning up for duty every Monday and Thursday at our static practice in Groot Aub to service the dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, goats, chickens and the odd rabbit and pig that belonging to the 16 000 plus Namibians who live there.

Phew!

In these everyday spaces, learning happens naturally. Children gather, adults pause, and stories spark questions, laughter, and conversation.

With each page turned, the stoep becomes more than a resting place… it becomes a place of curiosity, connection, and learning. Namibian Animal Welfare Association is even making a stoep in front of a shop a classroom....

It's a WIN -WIN!

Not everyone is as animal loving as you are.

Namibia does not need more companion animals, we have 1000's, yes 1000's in SPCA's and sanctuaries all around the country.
