A huge thank you to Benguella Fishing Company for their generous donation of 55 second-hand mattresses to Seawork Cares.

These mattresses were delivered to the children at Learn in Peace in Walvis Bay, helping to ensure they have a safe, comfortable place to rest. A good night's sleep is essential for a child's health, wellbeing, and ability to learn, and this thoughtful contribution will make a real difference.

Partnerships like these show the incredible impact we can have when our community comes together to support those in need.

Today we celebrate our oceans – the lifeblood of our planet and a vital source of food and livelihoods for billions of people around the world.

Did you know?

🐟 More than 3 billion people rely on seafood as a primary source of protein.
🌍 The ocean produces over 50% of the oxygen we breathe.
💙 Oceans cover more than 70% of the Earth's surface and support countless communities through fishing, tourism, transport, and trade.
⚓ Millions of families depend directly on healthy oceans for their income and food security.

Here in Namibia, we are fortunate to be connected to one of the world's most productive marine ecosystems. Our oceans not only help feed our nation but also contribute to global food security, supporting jobs and livelihoods throughout the fishing value chain.

This World Oceans Day, let's remember that protecting our oceans means protecting our future. Every action, big or small, helps ensure that future generations can continue to benefit from the incredible resources our oceans provide.
