Spotlight on New and Emerging Ni****ne and To***co Products – Comparing Cancer in Namibia and Kenya

Online webinar presentation and engagement on Wednesday, 19 Aug 2026 at 14:00

Consumption of to***co continues to be a primary driver of avoidable illness and death on a global scale, placing substantial health-related, societal, and financial strains on nations such as Kenya and Namibia.

While the continent has seen noteworthy advancements in crafting control policies, critical deficiencies in data persist concerning the spread of to***co and ni****ne habits, the rise of novel offerings like e-cigarettes or vapes, the availability of quitting support, and the actual impact of programs aimed at lowering usage rates.

Although the societal impact of to***co, ni****ne and emerging product use, the dataset which measures the prevalence amongst adolescent youth in Namibia is not nationally representative and doesn’t speak to current trends. Hence the need for DaYTA 2.0 Project for Namibia.

This online seminar will bring together the heads of both cancer associations in Kenya and Namibia in order to discuss best practices, challenges, opportunities and threats to management efforts.
