So, the other day, Natalie, the boys, and I went to Donovan’s Memorial bench. I was there a few days before and saw that the plants in the pots were being tampered with, and also that the people sitting there used it as their refuse. (The refuse bin is just behind the bench but ya).
Natalie had a few young Mother-in-Law’s Tongue, commonly known as the Snake Plant, and we decided to try them. Hopefully, no one will try to steal them because they grow everywhere here. I also bought a few white gravels to make it pretty, and while we were busy doing that, a lady with her dog stopped in her tracks, shouting:
“What are you doing?”
For some reason, she addressed Natalie. (Who knows why, but we can think what we want). :D :D
Natalie wasn’t impressed and told her very firmly, almost abruptly: “We are cleaning up and planting new ones because people always mess up here ….”
“Yes, but you don’t give the plants water, and I walk here every day with my two bottles of water, and I’m the one watering the plants …”
Mind you, they were quite dry because I was out of town, and no matter how many times I’ve invited loved ones who pass there to just give them a few drops, it seems like no one has done so yet. (No problem with that, it was my idea, so I’m primarily responsible for it.)
So the chattering continued back and forth, and I could see that Natalie was really irritated by the woman. So I started to thank her generously for watering my D’s plants, and she slowly started to relax, telling me that the municipality’s guy who waters the grass and plants close by always looked at her like she’s from Mars when she waters the plants. (I wasn’t sure if she wanted me to be mad at the guy). :D :D
Then she and her dog continued their daily walk, and Natalie and I started to laugh. My thoughts were:
“Jeez, I’m grateful for passers-by (angels) who care, but I never expected them to be so ‘kwaai’!”
