🌱 Small Seedlings. Big Impact. 💚

We specifically chose to make agriculture an important part of learning at our school. Many of our learners have families in rural Namibia where farming plays an important role in everyday life.

At the same time, we want them to discover what agriculture can look like right here in town – through urban gardening, hydroponics and growing food with limited space and water. 💧🥬

And we are already seeing the first little successes: Some of our learners have taken seedlings home and motivated their parents to start small gardens. 🌱🏡

From Environmental Studies in Grades 1–3 to Natural Science in Grades 4–5, Agriculture from Grade 5, and our Agriculture and Environmental Clubs – we want that connection with nature and food production to start early.

Our hydroponics systems are one exciting part of it – but there is much more growing at our school. 🌿💚

🎉✨ HISTORY WAS MADE! 🇳🇦📚

Here are the first impressions from the official inauguration of Horizon Primary School – the first official school in the DRC of Swakopmund! ❤️🏫

What an unforgettable day! We were honoured to celebrate this milestone with Hon. Dr. Sanet L. Steenkamp, Minister of Ministry of Education Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, Governor of Erongo Region Hon. Natalia ǀGoagoses, Mayor Suamma Kautondokwa (Swakopmund Municipality), regional leaders, councillors, education officials, sponsors, community members and so many incredible supporters. 🙌✨

Together, we celebrated more than a school - we celebrated hope, opportunity and a brighter future for every child. 🌍💙 From inspiring speeches and learner performances to the ribbon cutting, the atmosphere was simply incredible! 🎀📖

Thanks to the Werner Erkes Stiftung – the main donor for the construction of Horizon Primary School.

📊🤩 Maths is more than numbers... it's an adventure! 🚀

Who says mathematics has to be boring?💙

Our Grade 5 learners transformed their classroom into a mini data lab as they explored Data Handling through exciting group work 🤝, interactive lessons on the smart board 🖥️, colourful learning posters 🎨, and creating their very own bar graphs! 📈

We believe that when teachers put creativity, energy, and passion into their lessons, learning becomes exciting for everyone. 🌟 When learners can see, discuss, explore, and create, mathematics suddenly becomes something they look forward to! ❤️

Not everyone born in Namibia automatically becomes a Namibian citizen. 👀

Our teachers recently received a training by the Electoral Commission of Namibia - ECN to learn more about Article 4 of the Namibian Constitution – Citizenship. 📖✨

🏄‍♀️🌊 And here they are... surfing! 🤩💙

Since last year, our Grade 3 and 4 learners have had the amazing opportunity to learn how to swim 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️ as part of our extracurricular programme. A huge thank you to Schwimmschule Wellenbrecher! 🙌💙

But swimming wasn't the final level... 🌊🏄‍♂️

Thanks to The Boardroom Swakopmund, a group of our learners is now learning to surf in the beautiful ocean of Swakopmund! 🌊🏄‍♀️ Along the way, they're also discovering how to protect our coastline through environmental education. 🌍♻️

We love seeing organisations come together 🤝 to create opportunities like these. Together, we're building confidence, creating unforgettable memories, and making waves! 💙✨

🏊‍♂️ Welcome to the first public pool of DRC! 😂

And look where it is… right in front of our school! Perfect timing, because the school holidays are right in the middle now. Our learners are already enjoying their unexpected “water park adventure” together with the whole community. 🌊😅

A huge thank you to the Swakopmund Municipality for the super quick reaction and repair team! 👏

Sorry kids… the pool will be closed again soon. 😜

🐣 Easter Fun All Around! 🍬✨

Baskets ready, eyes sharp, and off we went!
All 135 learners and even our staff joined the Easter hunt, filling their baskets with sweet surprises and big smiles along the way.
