A special visit at ODEC Swakopmund! 📚✨

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Namibian children’s book author Hilma Weber to ODEC. Hilma spent time with our preschool and kindergarten learners 👧🏾👦🏾, bringing one of her beautiful storybooks to life during a special reading session 📖.

Many of her books are already part of our library 📚, so it was truly a magical moment ✨ for the children and the staff to meet the author behind the stories they know.

With great warmth and enthusiasm ❤️, Hilma reminded us how powerful early literacy can be. When children grow up with books, they grow up with imagination, confidence and possibilities 🌍✨.

First Aid Skills for Everyday Situations ⛑🩹

Knowing how to help someone in a moment of need is an important skill. First aid is not only for emergencies. It is also about caring for each other and being prepared to support others in everyday situations. 🤝💛

The team from BruderhausDiakonie Beruf & Karriere came all the way from Germany 🇩🇪 to conduct an engaging first aid training for our Homework-learners from Grade 9 to 12. 🙌📚

The session focused on practical skills such as wound care, bandaging, and how to respond to injuries. Our learners were able to try things out themselves and learn important steps for everyday situations. 🩹⛑👩‍⚕️

Because one day, this might be the knowledge that makes all the difference when someone needs help. ✨

Tiny hands were creating beautiful art 🎨 baking sweet treats 🧁 making adorable cards 💌 and dancing with so much joy 💃🕺

It was a day full of giggles, creativity and pure childhood happiness 🥰

✨🌈 Waiting for our Doors to open!🌈✨

We are so excited! 🥳💛
Next week, two of our educational centres open their doors again and the energy is already in the air 🌱🎒

And just like every year, we know the very first question 😊👇
👉 Are there still spaces available?

Unfortunately, the answer is no 💛
Both centres are already completely full ✨

Our learners were selected well in advance. The children starting now were already chosen last year and are growing with us from now on! 🌈📚

Every year, the interest in our schools is overwhelming. Parents come early, wait patiently and sometimes even stay overnight 🕊️✨
All because they believe in education and hope for a brighter future for their children 💭💛

The selection process is never easy 💔
Welcoming new learners brings joy, but saying no to many families is one of the hardest moments of the year for us. That's why we aim to have a fair application process and prefer personal talks with the parents.
Now we are looking forward to see all the learners very soon! 🤍✨
