A SILVER LINING DONOR DONATES 4 X DB MATRESSES + MATRESS PROTECTORS TO 4 LUCKY FAMILIES
Manda donated 4 x double bed mattresses and 4 mattress protectors to 4 of SILVER LINING'S families this past week. This, in remembrance of her two children. The excitement and gratitude was on another level! Thank you x a million to Manda for her 3rd such donation. We hope Manda enjoyed the " vibe" of the delivery, despite the very sad reason for it. It is simply amazing how one can turn one's annual, ever-present sadness into happiness for others. Thank you!

AND MORE SILVER LINING BABY BUCKETS MAKE MORE EXPECTANT MOMS SUPER HAPPY.

it was a pleasure to deliver another 7 Silver Lining Baby Buckets to very happy and excited expectant moms. The winning thank you message from R was this:

Dear donor,

No words can describe how grateful I am for the baby and me bucket I have received.
It has all the necessities I will be needing in the beginning of this new journey and much more.
I just love the hand knitted clothes, which will really come in handy during this winter, and I can tell they were made with so much love.
Thank you once again for everything and to everyone that poured the love and time into the making of the baby buckets.

Yours truly
R"

FOOD PARCEL DELIVERY DAYS ARE ALWAYS SPECIAL DAYS
Silver Lining's core work is delivering food parcels to our approved 50 families. Each family receives a food parcel every 3 months. In May we delivered 18 food parcels at a central venue and many came on foot from a good distance away.

But, it was worth the effort as they were overjoyed to see their dry food, toiletries and fresh fruit and veggies in 2 big, heavy, black plastic rubbish bags

Some came with a friend or family member to help them carry, one brought a wheelbarrow and others balanced a bag on their heads. A very happy day for all!

MORE BABY BUCKETS MAKE MORE MOMS VERY HAPPY

A further six Silver Lining baby buckets were delivered in the Wag Daar community of Swakopmund, Namibia this week. The excitement and happiness of these moms was quite something to see.

They were so grateful for their unexpected gift. The pics show them with their favourite items from their buckets.

One lady looked at me and said, " I love everything! How can I choose one?"

0ur damp, cold, misty, windy Winter days have set in here so the warm, knitted items made by the Swakopmund Retirement Village Knitting Club were definitely the most popular.

P SHOWS US WHAT PERSEVERANCE IS ALL ABOUT.

P was a very bright primary school pupil I taught when he was in Grade 6 in 2013. He showed potential and I always felt he would succeed despite his difficult home circumstances. And, happily, he proved me right!

Studying a Bachelors Degree in Accounting (Chartered Accounting stream) is never an easy course of study. In his early days of university life, he occasionally appealed to Silver Lining for help. We assisted when he needed to buy pots, pans, etc when he moved into a university residence and had to cook his own food in a communal kitchen.

In 2024, he encountered various obstacles. He failed one subject and was not able to re-write as he was only advised after the deadline date for re-write applications had passed. He therefore was not able to proceed with his studies for an entire year.

He did not give up. Some further help came from Silver Lining in the form of a 2nd hand laptop and encouragement to continue.

In 2025, he was granted a scholarship from Namib Futures and this enabled him to complete his degree. He graduated in April 2026.
He is currently in an internship programme in a finance-Focused environment, but is working towards securing a position in an auditing firm. He further plans to pursue post-graduate studies later in 2026.

He recently expressed his gratitude for Silver Lining’s help, saying: “I truly appreciate the impact you’ve had on my journey.”

Hats off to P for persevering against the odds. We are so happy Silver Lining could be of assistance and we wish him all the best for a bright future ahead – he deserves it!

EXCITING EXCURSION FOR EXCELLENT PRESCHOOL KIDS

ir is school holidays in Namibia but many preschools/ daycares remain open as parents are working and need a safe place for their children to stay while they're at work. so the teachers don't get a break or a holiday.

Anna Gamises makes every effort to make this time fun fir the kids. They recently took the kids on a fun outing to the beach. You can see from the faces that this was a great adventure and a very special treat. They played in the icy cold sea, and had fun at the nearby playground and a special picnic made the day complete.

Well done, Anna, for organising this great little adventure for your lucky learners!

THE AMAZING STORY OF NAEMI WHO NEVER GAVE UP........

Silver Lining sometimes helps make dreams come true......
Naemi Kondjashili was a primary school pupil I taught way back in 2014(Grade 5) and again in 2016(Grade 7). When she wrote her final high school examinations in 2020, she did not achieve enough points to enter tertiary education.

She had always dreamed of becoming a teacher, so Naemi turned her disappointment into determination. She decided to repeat certain subjects through distance education. Silver Lining helped her with examination fees and stationery. Whilst studying, Naemi ran afternoon homework classes for primary school kids.

Later this month, Naemi will graduate with a Bachelors degree (Honours) in Senior Primary Education through the Institute of University Management (IUM).

Here’s a brief excerpt from a very powerfully worded thank you message she recently wrote to Silver Lining, acknowledging our support:
“In moments when things felt uncertain, your support gave me the hope, strength and motivation to keep going. Because of you, I was able to believe in my potential and push forward with confidence.”

Naemi is currently employed at a guest house and is actively applying for teaching positions.

What an amazing story of perseverance, determination and success! Well done Naemi – we are so proud of you!
