P SHOWS US WHAT PERSEVERANCE IS ALL ABOUT.
P was a very bright primary school pupil I taught when he was in Grade 6 in 2013. He showed potential and I always felt he would succeed despite his difficult home circumstances. And, happily, he proved me right!
Studying a Bachelors Degree in Accounting (Chartered Accounting stream) is never an easy course of study. In his early days of university life, he occasionally appealed to Silver Lining for help. We assisted when he needed to buy pots, pans, etc when he moved into a university residence and had to cook his own food in a communal kitchen.
In 2024, he encountered various obstacles. He failed one subject and was not able to re-write as he was only advised after the deadline date for re-write applications had passed. He therefore was not able to proceed with his studies for an entire year.
He did not give up. Some further help came from Silver Lining in the form of a 2nd hand laptop and encouragement to continue.
In 2025, he was granted a scholarship from Namib Futures and this enabled him to complete his degree. He graduated in April 2026.
He is currently in an internship programme in a finance-Focused environment, but is working towards securing a position in an auditing firm. He further plans to pursue post-graduate studies later in 2026.
He recently expressed his gratitude for Silver Lining’s help, saying: “I truly appreciate the impact you’ve had on my journey.”
Hats off to P for persevering against the odds. We are so happy Silver Lining could be of assistance and we wish him all the best for a bright future ahead – he deserves it!
