During the winter months in Namibia, we make sure the resident cheetahs have some extra warm beds to sleep in at night! Especially our two oldest cats, Peter and Tigerlily. Orphaned as young cubs, these siblings were rescued back in 2010 - and are now almost 16! We have insulated their houses a bit more and they are thoroughly taking advantage of it, all snuggled up in the hay bed!

We’ve got exciting news to share! The RETURN OF THE CHEETAH documentary series, produced by Discovery in partnership with Jetour Auto, has been recognized with FIVE international film awards - including a prestigious Golden Tower from the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards and a Gold Tell Award for the Best Short Form Documentary.

The two-part series follows internationally renowned naturalist and host Hazen Audel as he travels to Cheetah Conservation Fund’s (CCF) field centres in Namibia and Somaliland to witness firsthand the integrated conservation strategies that are changing the future for cheetahs in the wild.

The original film, RETURN OF THE CHEETAH, premiered on Discovery Channel on International Cheetah Day (December 4) in 2024, and follows Dr. Laurie Marker and the CCF team as they rehabilitate and release a cheetah named Jet back into the wild in Namibia. The sequel, RETURN OF THE CHEETAH: HORN OF AFRICA premiered globally on Discovery Channel in December 2025. The second installment in the series focuses on the impact of the illegal wildlife trade, following Dr. Marker and the CCF team in Somaliland as they rescue and care for cubs confiscated from wildlife traffickers. The feature highlights the Cheetah Rescue and Conservation Centre (CRCC) in Somaliland, the largest facility of its kind in the world.

On this , the message is simple: the time to act is now. 🌍

Cheetahs and countless other species depend on a healthy planet to survive. The difference? We're the only ones responsible for destroying it – and the only ones who can fix it.

Climate change is reshaping the landscapes cheetahs call home, threatening their prey, their habitat, and their future. But it's not too late.

By supporting CCF, you're directly funding programmes that restore Namibian savannahs, protect vital ecosystems, and secure a future for cheetahs in Namibia and Somaliland.

Swipe to learn how climate change is affecting cheetahs – then visit the link below to donate or find out more. Every action counts. 🐆

At the end of May, Dr. Laurie Marker visited our Cheetah Rescue and Conservation Centre (CRCC) in Somaliland. In addition to spending time catching up with staff at the CRCC, and checking up on all the resident cheetahs, she also connected with our vital partners at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change
(Wasaaradda Deegaanka iyo Isbedelka Cimilada JSL).

One of highlights of this time in Somaliland was meeting the new Deputy Minister of the MoECC, Samsam Mohamed Salah. Joined by the field team from the CRCC, Dr. Marker met with MoECC leadership to discuss our continued outreach to the communities around Geed-Deeble, where our CRCC is located. Our country manager in Somaliland, Chris Wade and I, also updated MoECC leadership on our upcoming plans for the year, including expanding training and educational opportunities for communities around Geed-Deeble.

Established in 2024, the Geed-Deeble Conservancy spreads over 585 kilometers and encompasses 16 villages. The community-managed conservation area is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Since the CRCC opened in 2023, staff have observed and documented species including spotted hyenas, Hamadryas baboons, African golden wolves, and caracals.

We are so grateful for these impactful and ongoing partnerships in Somaliland as we jointly work to better understand and protect wild cheetah populations in the region and stop the illegal wildlife trade.
