Amitofo Care Centre Namibia

Amitofo Care Centre Namibia Provide care for orphan childrens. Teach them the buddhism way of living. Give them chance to learn and grow into the society.

Amitofo Care Centre (ACC) is founded and directed by Buddhist clergy from the East with an aspiration and mission to directly rear and care for orphans of Africa within the humanitarian and educational umbrella. The main principles of ACC are based on local African culture, Chinese culture and Buddhist philosophy which are given to the orphans in need. This is considered a unique and remarkable characteristic of ACC although it must be stressed that none of the orphans have taken refuge to Buddhism, as we respect their religious freedom and will allow them to choose their own religions as they enter adulthood. Venerable Hui Li, born in Taiwan and tagged as the ‘African monk’, founded ACC specifically for African orphans in the early 90’s and is still the residing chairperson. With his enthusiasm and big heart to bring love and care to the orphans.

On Saturday, 26 September 2026, children from ACC Namibia
proudly participated in the Shenmo Abacus Mental Math Annual Competition 2026, held at David Bezuidenhout High School Hall.
Our learners not only showcased their talents but also had the opportunity to observe and learn how a mental-math competition is conducted. They experienced how participating children used their hands, concentration, and listening skills to work through calculations and arrive at the correct answers.

As part of the official programme, our children were also given two dedicated performance sessions, where they presented coordinated martial-arts-style and acrobatic routines featuring synchronized formations, staff routines, balance work, and acrobatic movements.

Dressed in their coordinated yellow-and-white uniforms, the children represented Amitofo Care Centre Namibia with discipline, teamwork, confidence, and enthusiasm, performing before learners, parents, educators, invited guests, and event organizers. The experience was more than just a performance. It was an opportunity for our learners to learn from others, discover new skills, build confidence, and experience an educational environment outside the Centre.

We are proud of our learners for their participation, discipline and enthusiasm!
A special appreciation goes to the Shenmo Education Namibia team and the event organizers for giving our children the opportunity to be part of this memorable educational and cultural event.

Ms. Katharina Phillipus(諮商師/ 生活技能老師)

*Seeing the Future Through Real-World Career Exploration*
Yuan Jue Private School Grade 10 Learners Visit the UNAM Career Fair
For Grade 10 learners, questions about future studies and careers are becoming more than classroom discussions. They are beginning to think seriously about the direction they would like to take in the next stage of their lives.

The Learners from Yuan Jue Private School (Amitofo Care Centre Namibia), accompanied by their teachers, visited the University of Namibia (UNAM) Main Campus to participate in the Career Fair.
The visit provided learners with an opportunity to step beyond the classroom and engage directly with representatives from the university, government institutions, and different professional sectors. Through these interactions, they were able to see the connection between what they learn at school and the opportunities that exist in the real world.

*Moving from Knowing to Exploring
At the Career Fair, learners were introduced to a wide range of academic and professional fields, including: Healthcare and Medicine, Engineering and Technology, Information Technology, Law, Aviation, Mining, Banking and Finance, Public Service and Law Enforcement, Agriculture, Education and Social Development.

Learners had the opportunity to speak directly with professionals and representatives from different fields, asking questions about educational requirements, professional skills, entry pathways, and future career opportunities. These conversations encouraged them to begin asking themselves:
“Where can what I am learning today take me in the future?”

*More Than Information — An Opportunity to Discover
One of the most meaningful outcomes of the visit was not simply learning about different careers, but encouraging learners to think about their own interests, strengths, abilities, and future goals.
For some learners, the Career Fair introduced them to professional fields they had never seriously considered before. For others, it helped them become more confident about areas they may wish to explore further.
Through conversations with professionals, learners also practised how to ask questions, communicate confidently in a professional environment, and remain open to different possibilities.
These may seem like simple experiences, but they are valuable skills that will support learners as they prepare for university, the workplace, and wider society.

*A Reflection from the School Counsellor
Ms. Katharina Phillipus (School Counsellor / Life Skills Teacher)
“It was encouraging to see our learners showing genuine interest and actively engaging with the different exhibitors. For many of them, this experience provided an opportunity to see beyond the classroom and begin thinking more seriously about their future studies and career paths.
Career exploration is a journey, and we hope that experiences like this will help our learners discover their interests, recognise their strengths, and gradually develop a clearer vision for their future.”

*Explore today. Discover your possibilities.
Build your future with purpose.
We sincerely thank the University of Namibia (UNAM), the organisers, participating institutions, businesses, and professionals for providing our learners with such a valuable opportunity to learn, ask questions, and explore their future.
We also appreciate the dedication of our teachers who accompanied and supported the learners throughout the visit.
Yuan Jue Private School looks forward to creating more opportunities for our learners to engage with universities, professional fields, and the wider community as they continue their journey towards their future goals.

願每一份善念,都成為一份祝福;

Every year during the seventh month of the lunar calendar, Namibia ACC holds a Three-Time Chanting Ceremony, led by our founder, Venerable Master Hui Li.
Our children and overseas teachers come together in the Buddha Hall with sincere and grateful hearts to take part in this meaningful ceremony.
The seventh lunar month is also traditionally known as a time to remember and show gratitude to our parents and loved ones. Through chanting, prayer, and mindful participation, our children dedicate their prayers and blessings to family members and loved ones who have passed away, remembering the love and care they once shared with us.
For our children, this is more than a religious ceremony. It is also a meaningful lesson in life, gratitude, and compassion. They learn to appreciate their parents, cherish the people around them, and share their blessings with others.
We also dedicate the merits of this ceremony to all our donors, volunteers, teachers, friends, and their families who have continued to care for and support the children at ACC. We are truly grateful for their kindness and generosity.
At a time when natural disasters, conflicts, and suffering continue to affect many parts of the world, we hope to extend our prayers beyond ourselves and our families. We dedicate these blessings to everyone who is facing hardship, and to all living beings around the world.
May every good thought become a blessing.
May every blessing bring a little more peace and hope to the world.
May there be peace in the world, harmony in every community, and safety and happiness for all beings.

Where Compassion Never Rests

As the medical mission entered its third day, Otjiwarongo Hospital remained filled with an unending stream of patients. Before the first rays of dawn broke across the Namibian sky, long queues had already formed outside the hospital. Many had travelled for hours—some even days—from remote villages, enduring arduous journeys with a single hope in their hearts: the chance to be seen by a specialist and receive the care they had long gone without.

*2026 Singapore ACC Namibia Medical Mission Journal (Part II)

A successful cross-border medical mission is built upon the coming together of countless good causes.

For many years, under the visionary leadership and initiative of ACCI Vice President Madam Maria, together with Global Clinic and ACC Singapore, funds, medicines, and medical equipment have been raised to make these international missions possible—providing free medical care to countless patients in need across Africa.

Following the medical services provided at the ACC center, Director Min-Ju Chen and her team arranged for the medical delegation to visit the center's affiliated farm and school. Senior students served as tour guides, leading the doctors and volunteers to experience firsthand ACC’s deep-rooted educational and community efforts.

Before their departure, a warm and touching farewell ceremony was hosted. Under the dedicated guidance of Teacher Esther, Hostel Caregivers and Coach Wang, the children presented a series of remarkable performances—including traditional African dance, musical theater, and dynamic martial arts—to show their deepest gratitude to the doctors and volunteers. Their heartfelt performance won thunderous applause and deeply moved everyone present.

During her speech, Vice President Madam Maria expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the entire Global Clinic medical team, the ACC Singapore delegation and the accompanying volunteers for their selfless dedication. She also encouraged the children: "True success is not just about achieving for oneself, but about using one's skills and compassion to serve society and empower others."

A medical mission heals the body; a warm companionship plants the seeds of hope. Because of love, this cross-border mission will continue to thrive and bring hope for years to come.
