Meet Mbitjita Kavari (right), a dedicated young person from Namibia’s Kunene Region, who is working to transform his community through the Eco Champions Project. With a focus on sustainable water access and food security, he has successfully completed the first phase of a community-led water harvesting and storage project in Oruvandjei-West.
This first phase involved the installation of a water tank, pump and a basic piping system intended to supply harvested water to six local community gardens. While the system is not yet fully operational due to renovation work at the water point and a minor technical issue, its completion marks a milestone in improving agricultural resilience and sustainable resource management in the region.
The response from the community has been positive, with local gardens already prepared to make use of the improved water supply once it becomes fully functional. Mbitjita continues to oversee the project closely, monitoring the system and engaging with community members🌿
