Ernestus Axakhoeb is a Namibian politician and pastor from Windhoek, and he’s building a national profile pretty quickly right now.
Where he is now:
Party President of People United for Change (PUC) - PUC was officially registered by the ECN in 2025. Axakhoeb represented PUC at the certificate handover.
Focus: PUC was "born out of the struggles of the Hai//om people" but says it’s for all marginalised communities, including San, Zambezi Region and beyond. He frames it as an "honest, principled and people-centred alternative".
Past politics: He was UDF regional coordinator and ran as UDF candidate for Karibib Constituency in 2020, getting 1,172 votes and coming 2nd. He also made himself available for UDF president in 2022. dc252b46b0cf8e9730d5
How big can he become? A few factors:
Timing & space: Namibia now has 25 registered parties. Only 13 got seats in Parliament in the last election. PUC is new, so no state funding yet. That means growth depends on grassroots fundraising and visibility.
Niche: PUC is positioning as "a new voice for the voiceless", specifically targeting marginalised groups like Hai//om and San, plus anti-corruption and unity messaging. If that resonates nationally beyond his base, it gives him room to grow.
Track record: He already pulled 1,172 votes in Karib as UDF, and PUC says it will contest 2029 general elections plus regional/local elections. So the next 2-3 election cycles are his test.
Profile: He describes himself as “a Change Agent, a kingdom ruler, a people’s man and the Man of God”, and is a pastor of the Christian Mission of Jesus Christ. That gives him both political and community platforms. dc25d2632b46b0cf8e97
Realistic ceiling:
Short term: Build PUC into a recognised opposition voice in regional councils and local authorities in 2025-2026.
Medium term: If PUC can win a seat in National Assembly in 2029, it unlocks state funding and parliamentary platform. That’s the jump from "new party" to "national player".
Long term: Becoming a major party would require expanding beyond the marginalised-community base to win in multiple regions. His anti-tribalism and anti-corruption message is aimed at that. dc252b46
He’s still early, but the fact that he’s already party president of a newly registered national party at 25 parties total means he has a seat at the table. dc25
