The Savanna Beef abattoir received its export certificate today. This is valid for markets in the UK, the EU, and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries, namely Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Iceland.

“We are delighted and will start on Monday, 13 April, slaughtering the first cattle for the international market. It will also be the first cattle slaughtered under the newly implemented slaughter right trading system,” board chairman Mecki Schneider said.

He added, “This has taken time, but it's a major milestone and was a top priority over the past three years. We are looking forward to farmers’ further support and commitment.”
