dedicated to working towards the full integration of Mozambican Orphans with HIV and Aids Association of Friends for Orphaned Children with Aids is a Mozambican national N.G.O. dedicated to working towards the full integration of Mozambican Orphans with HIV and Aids into their communities, so as to enable them to live as normal a life as they can and eventually become productive members of society
. It was created by a group of evangelical Christians established in rural village, Ndlavela, on the outskirts of Maputo province, southern Mozambique, back in the year 2000. The orphanage is currently being managed only by volunteers, with no salaries being paid at present. The Association’s main goal is to provide both humanitarian and biblical assistance to as many aids orphans as possible, we have over the years provided assistance with food and shelter in substitute families to over 2000 children. We currently have 20 children residing full-time at AACOSIDA under our care. We need the help of well-wishers to assist orphan children in Mozambique. An insignificant percentage of orphans have the privilege to receive any kind of support, leaving thousands of children to provide for themselves. We would like your assistance in moderating the devastating effects of HIV/AIDS in Mozambique:
Some of the most effects of HIV and AIDS in Mozambique are:
o The near-zero chances of a child’s access to basic necessities such as shelter, food, clothing, health, and education, when the child loses one or both parents to AIDS. o A rise in a number of child-headed households, child care-givers, as well as grandmothers who are forced to take care their grandchildren. The existing government structures for health services delivery and well established charities such as Save the Children and others do not reach this group of HIV/AIDS orphans, who number in the hundreds of thousands. AACOSIDA is seeking to fill this gap in assistance delivery by directly addressing the needs of the abandoned AIDS orphans in the remote villages of Mozambique. We, the founders of AACOSIDA, are natives of these rural areas. We have relatives whose children were abandoned in the villages and we have taken care of many of them. We need partners like you! We offer more than just food, clothing, and shelter; we offer education, employment skills, and a loving home. Our ultimate aim is for the orphanage to be self-supporting as we begin implementing various alternative livelihood projects and receive renewable support from people around the globe. We would like to invite international volunteers to our come and experience life in our orphanage, this would provide unique opportunities for both volunteers and orphans to make a lasting, life changing difference in each other’s lives.
