Reflecting on an exciting Saturday, last weekend AfriPAHR convened a workshop in Maputo, Mozambique, bringing together Members of Parliament and key stakeholders to engage on human rights and Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) in Africa.

The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on the human rights challenges facing Mozambique and the African continent more broadly. Discussions focused on the role that parliamentarians can play in strengthening the protection of fundamental rights through legislative action, institutional development, and the promotion of inclusive governance.

Participants also explored practical approaches to supporting Members of Parliament in Mozambique as they consider initiatives aimed at strengthening minority protections, improving regulatory frameworks related to FoRB, and reinforcing anti-discrimination measures.

AfriPAHR remains committed to working with parliamentarians across the continent to advance democratic governance, promote human rights, and support conditions that enable peaceful coexistence within diverse societies.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Members of Parliament from Mozambique and all stakeholders who contributed to the dialogue. We also thank Hon. Margarida Talapa, President of the Parliament of Mozambique, for her support for this engagement.
