*Another Successful Tuesday Meeting at the Rotary Club of Maputo Metro! 💙💛*

Our Tuesday physical meeting was both productive and inspiring as we reflected on the success of our recent Handover Ceremony held at Dom Orione.

We held a post-handover debrief and planning session, celebrating a truly successful event while discussing important follow-up actions, including the collection of the charity auction proceeds, promoting our newly launched website, and preparing for upcoming District 9400 opportunities.

One of the highlights of our handover event was the successful charity auction, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting the Dom Orione Children’s Home. These funds will help cover essential needs such as food, medication, home maintenance, toiletries, and other daily necessities, ensuring the children continue to receive the care and support they deserve.

We also mapped out our next steps for strengthening member engagement, enhancing club administration, and preparing for key upcoming events, including:

At the Rotary Club of Maputo Metro, service extends far beyond a single event. Every meeting is an opportunity to plan, collaborate, and create a greater impact in our community.

The Rotary Club Maputo Metro had the honour of receiving a special visit from Mexer, the former international football player who represented clubs in countries such as Portugal, Turkey, and France, and was part of the team that won the French Cup with Stade Rennais F.C..

Now back in Mozambique, Mexer is launching his own football academy, with a focus on nurturing children with special talents and a passion for football.

It was a privilege to hear about his vision of using sport as a tool to inspire, develop, and create opportunities for the next generation. ⚽👏

Education in Rotary can refer to Basic Education and Literacy, which is one of Rotary International’s core Areas of Focus. It can also refer to Rotarian Education, which involves the internal training and development of Rotary members.

Therefore, we also place emphasis on equipping members with the skills to handle difficult situations effectively.

It was a lovely morning on Saturday, 2nd May 2026, as the Discon program continued. Dr. Lurdes Mutola, our Mozambican star and Olympic gold medalist who continues to inspire generations, highlighted the importance of sports, wellbeing, and mental health—especially among young people, who still have the opportunity to shape and change the world.

Today was a beautiful yet emotional day. We had the opportunity to visit and spend time with underprivileged children living with different kinds of disabilities. It was a deeply touching experience. May God continue to use us as a source of joy and bring smiles to the faces of others.
