A conversation, a debate & a chance to learn.🎥

Recently, we welcomed Wanga Nhantumbo & Graça Azevedo, students from UP - Universidade Pedagógica, who visited AdA as part of a university project.

They came with questions, ideas and some really interesting points for discussion about animal welfare in Mozambique.

For us, these conversations matter. Animal welfare is not only about rescuing animals - it’s also about education, awareness, changing attitudes and asking the difficult questions.

And this is just the beginning.

We’re starting a new Q&A series where we’ll open up more about AdA.

Millie story ❤️

Little Millie’s journey started on 22 September, when Tamara and her family noticed a tiny kitten hiding underneath their car.

After a lot of patience and some gentle rescue work, they finally managed to catch this little girl and took her straight to CoopVet.

And then came the bad news 💔
Millie has fractures in both femurs.

But this tiny girl is a fighter! She is clinically stable, alert, active, in good spirits and, most importantly, has a very healthy appetite.

Today, 24 September, Millie is having orthopedic surgery to repair and stabilize her broken bones. The goal is simple: to give this little girl the chance to walk, run and play again without pain.

Of course, surgery and the days at the clinic come with costs.

A big THANK YOU to Tamara for the donation of 2.362,50 Mzn, which covered Millie’s first day at the clinic.

Every little bit helps us to give Millie the treatment she needs.

Please keep this tiny fighter and the wonderful veterinary team looking after her in your thoughts today.

We will update you as soon as we know how her surgery went.

ADOPTION NEWS

Some cats just need a little more time to find the right home.

Casper has finally found his forever home with Shin and family and this is officially a foster fail!

Casper has been fostered since February 2026. Twice before, things didn’t work out because of the other resident cats, and he had to come back to our cattery. It just wasn’t the right match.

But this time YES! 🥰

Shin and family decided that fostering Casper was not enough - they wanted to keep him.

And of course, there is already a resident cat, Wasabi, who now has a new roommate. 😼 This time the introduction is going well, and we are very happy to see Casper finally settling into his new home.

After two attempts that didn’t work out, Casper finally got his happy ending.

No more coming back. This time, he’s home.

Our cattery is still full of amazing cats waiting for their own happy ending.

SCHOOL PROJECT NEWS

Golda, you get a TOP NOTE ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the dog house you built for AdA!

And the most important judges have already given their verdict: Hazel & Fred are LOVING it!

What started as a school project has turned into a proper little home for two very happy dogs. And honestly, we think this is a brilliant idea!

So now we're asking:

🎓 Are there more creative students out there?**
🔨 Anyone who enjoys building things?**
♻️ Anyone who can turn old or leftover materials into something useful?
🐕 Or perhaps someone who sees a broken dog house and thinks: “I can fix that!”?

AdA has plenty of four-legged residents who would happily become your next building inspectors.

We don't need fancy.
We don't need perfect.
We need safe, practical and made with love.

Golda has officially raised the bar.

TRAVEL NEWS

Snowy and Ching Shih, who were adopted by Florian & Vermund in 2023, have finally completed their long journey from Mozambique to Europe!

After a very long 18-hour journey, our two beautiful cats finally arrived safely at their new home.

Unfortunately, the trip was not an easy one for them.

They traveled from Maputo with Ethiopian Airlines and had a 3-hour layover at Addis Ababa Airport. During the layover, extra security checks meant that their carriers had to be scanned again without the cats inside.

The carriers, with Snowy and Ching Shih inside, had already been standing outside with the rest of the luggage for quite some time. With buses passing by and aircraft noise all around them, the two cats were understandably extremely frightened. 😢

When it was time to remove the cats from their carriers for the additional security scan, the ground staff were asked whether the cats would be given food and water and placed somewhere quiet during the long journey.

The answer was "no".

When their owner asked if he could feed them and give them water himself, he was initially told no as well. Only after insisting was he finally allowed to take care of them. Thankfully, their food and water had been prepared and taped to the outside of their carriers.

For animals traveling for 18 hours, proper care, access to water and food, and a quiet and safe environment are not small details - they are incredibly important.

Based on this experience and others, we unfortunately cannot recommend Ethiopian Airlines for long international journeys with animals. The experience showed us that there does not appear to be a reliable routine in place for the care and well-being of animals traveling as cargo or checked animals during long layovers.

But despite the difficult journey Snowy and Ching Shih made it safely! 🙏

And that is what matters most now.

Safe at last. Home at last.

We wish Snowy and Ching Shih the most wonderful life ahead and cannot wait to see all the adventures waiting for them!

Sometimes social media brings people together for a really good reason. ❤️

Maritza first got in contact with PATOPOLIS Pet Care through Instagram. After exchanging a few messages and getting to know their services, she was interested in taking her cats, Toffee and Rafaello, for some grooming. 🐱✂️

During their chats, Maritza realized that the lovely owner of PATOPOLIS did not yet know about AdA and the work we do for animals in need. So, of course, she shared a little about AdA, our rescues and our donor boxes.

And the answer was simple: YES, we would love to support you! ❤️
