ALMA is a non-profit organization based in the town of Tofo, Mozambique with a focus on sustaining our natural resources through reusing and recycling.

ALMA runs several projects in order to raise awareness of the increasing waste in the area and offers creative alternatives for its disposal. We help to deal with the imminent waste problems by providing infrastructures, carrying out beach and street clean-ups, as well as organizing dump sites and making them safe for workers. In addition, we implement recycling systems and offer educational training that enables people within the community to make informed decisions about the materials they use. ALMA produces its own unique, handmade crafts using different kinds of waste materials typically found within the dumpsite - including bottle tops, plastic bottles, newspapers and capulana scraps (mozambiquan clothing material). These materials are collected and processed within out handicraft workshop.
