🎄 Sharing Hope & a Meal in Chipangara this Christmas 🎄

This holiday season, our Faith and Hope Association family had the profound joy of sharing a special Christmas meal with wonderful children in the Chipangara community.

For us, this was more than a meal. It was a moment of fellowship, laughter, and the simple, powerful act of sharing what we have with our neighbors. In these shared plates, we see the true spirit of Christmas—love in action, community in connection, and hope taking root.

🌍✨ Reflections from the 3rd Feminist Republik Festival in Mombasa! ✨🌍

What a powerful and transformative experience it was to gather with fierce minds, compassionate hearts, and revolutionary spirits from across Africa and beyond. Thank you to Urgent Action Fund (UAF) for the incredible invitation and to the organizers for curating such a necessary space.

This festival was more than a conference—it was a movement. A living, breathing dialogue on justice, resilience, and solidarity. From insightful panels on intersectional feminism to heartfelt exchanges on community-led advocacy, every moment was a reminder: when women lead, systems change.

Here are a few glimpses from our time in Mombasa—where we shared the work of Faith and Hope Association, learned from inspiring activists, and built connections that will fuel our work back home in Mozambique.

We left with renewed energy, deeper conviction, and a stronger network of sisters in struggle. The journey continues—in our communities, in our advocacy, and in our collective fight for a just and equitable world.

During the rainy season, we are reminded of the problem of waste clogging our drains. But here in the Inhamizua neighborhood, we from the Faith and Hope Association are creating a solution. We transform organic waste from our homes into compost for this community garden. We have significantly reduced the waste we send to the dump and even harvest healthy food for our families.

Just completed the Justice-Based Approach (JBA) Foundation Course 2025 with United Edge, and it was nothing short of transformative! 🌍✊

For six weeks, we dove deep into a framework that doesn’t just tweak the system—it challenges us to reimagine it. The JBA isn’t another toolkit; it’s a mindset shift. It pushes us to center the voices of the marginalized, question power structures, and move from charity to solidarity.

As someone working in community development in Beira, Mozambique, this course has already reshaped how I approach our projects. It’s given me the lens and the language to ensure our work in waste management and livelihoods doesn’t just serve the community but is led by it. The principles of justice, accountability, and systems change are now at the core of our strategy.

A huge thank you to Daniel, Matt, Rhonwyn, and the entire United Edge team for creating such a brave, insightful, and globally-minded space. The connections made with practitioners from around the world were just as valuable as the content.

If you’re in the social impact, development, or NGO space and are looking for an approach that aligns values with action, I couldn’t recommend this course more.

Grow Local, Go Broccoli!

At the Faith and Hope Association, we're sowing the seeds of resilience, one leaf at a time. We are empowering community cooperatives to cultivate vibrant fields of fresh, nutritious lettuce, transforming local soil into a source of sustenance, income, and collective pride. This isn't just farming—it's a movement. By growing locally, we're not only putting food on the table but also nourishing the roots of our community, fostering health, entrepreneurship, and a greener future for all. Together, we are harvesting hope.

We are aiming at:
Promoting Local Agriculture: Encourage communities to support or engage in local broccoli and lettuce farming.

Healthy Eating Advocacy: Highlight broccoli as a nutritious, accessible superfood when sourced locally.

Sustainability Message: Combine the benefits of reducing food miles (local growing) with choosing an environmentally friendly crop like broccoli.

Digital Shield

In the cyclone-vulnerable Beira region, climate change and child vulnerability are inextricably linked. Disasters disrupt social structures, displace families, and heighten risks of child abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Current response systems are fragmented and analog, leading to critical delays. The Faith and Hope Association proposes the "Beira Digital Shield," an 18-month project to build a unified, mobile-based platform that empowers our community network to digitally monitor environmental risks, report child protection incidents, and trigger a faster, coordinated response. This $25,000 grant will fund the core digital development, training, and deployment, creating a scalable model that uses technology to protect both the most vulnerable children and the communities they live in.

The Faith and Hope Association supports women financially to run businesses in the community as a strategic commitment to fostering sustainable development, gender equality, and social resilience. By empowering women economically, the initiative enables them to become catalysts of change—increasing household incomes, improving access to education and healthcare for their families, and creating local employment opportunities. This approach not only addresses systemic barriers that women often face, such as limited access to credit and resources, but also strengthens the broader community by promoting inclusive growth, reducing poverty, and upholding the values of dignity, justice, and hope that lie at the heart of the association’s mission.
