🎨✨ The Tawau Arts Festival brought together creativity, community, and inspiration in an unforgettable celebration! From the workshops to the lively drawing and colouring contests, to awe-inspiring sculptures and our shared community art project, the festival was filled with fun, learning, and artistic expression.

A heartfelt thank you to our talented artists Japson Wong , Kendylife, and Terrapatio 芳庭 Alek Wong, whose invaluable guidance and inspiration made it all possible. Your contributions ignited creativity in both participants and the amazing crew.

Special thanks too to our generous sponsors, Sabah Tourism Board, YB Datuk Lo Su Fui 羅思輝, President of Chinese Chamber of Commerce Mr. Chia Seong Fatt and Sakura Color Malaysia.

As the festival wraps up, we’re hopeful that the ripples of creativity set in motion by the very first Tawau Arts Festival will continue to shape the arts scene in Tawau, paving the way for it to become a vibrant destination for creative tourism. 🌟

🌱 什么是苔玉 (Kokedama)？
苔玉，意思是“苔球”，源自日本。这种园艺方式是将植物的根部包裹在土球中，再用苔藓覆盖并用绳子固定，做成既自然又具有装饰性的作品，让你的家居环境瞬间充满自然气息！

👨‍🎨 导师简介：
世鼎（Wong Shi Thine） 是一位经验丰富的苔玉、树脂艺术及微型景观专家。他会手把手教你制作属于你的苔玉，无论你是初学者还是园艺爱好者，都能享受这个创作过程。

✨ Meet Japson Wong✨A marine biologist turned upcycling artist, Japson transforms discarded materials into stunning works of art. His mission? To inspire others to see the beauty and potential in what we often call “trash.”

🌊 Notable Achievements 🌊�Japson’s work has graced many events, including his monumental installation, Wonders of Wilderness (WOW 1.0) Ocean—an awe-inspiring oceanic display featuring 20 marine animals, which was once Malaysia’s largest art installation. Last year, he won the Star Golden Heart Award. His vision continues to challenge how we perceive waste, turning it into meaningful, creative sculptures.

♻️ Environmental Advocate ♻️�Through his social enterprise, Ecocastle Sdn Bhd, Japson actively promotes environmental education, recycling, and upcycling, emphasizing both marine and terrestrial conservation.

We’re thrilled to have Japson join us at the very first Tawau Arts Festival! He’ll be leading an upcycling workshop and creating a one-of-a-kind installation art piece, showcasing the power of upcycling.
