10th June 2026: We are grateful to have Dr. Sangeeta Kaur, Founder of EJAsia, again to share her wisdom with our MND community.

Tonight, we had a wonderful session moderated by our Exco, Dr. Nina. The topic is about how we deal when we feel heavy on some days.

One of the methods is to tweak our negative mindset to a positive one. Then, practice it for 21 days continuously. After practicing for more than 100 days, it will become a habit.

To summarize the topic for the webinar, Dr. Sangeeta reminded us of two words - "Nothing Personal"

𝐔𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 🚑

After meeting Uncle 马铃薯叔叔日志 Uncle Kentang in person late last year, we had the privilege to use Ambulance Uncle Kentang 马铃薯Bibo 车 service for one of our MND warriors at zero cost for the first time.

Our warrior was finally discharged from a government hospital after staying there for almost 6 months. Due to warrior's financial constraint, we seek for help from Uncle Kentang for the ambulance service to sent him home. He needed an ambulance service as he is totally bed-ridden, both hands and legs are immobile, plus he is attached to an invasive ventilator (24/7) and an oxygen concentrator. Now, he can rest comfortably at his own home.

We would like to express our greatest gratitude to Uncle Kentang and the ambulance team for the love, compassion and full support to our MND warrior. We truly appreciate the kind service rendered to our MND warrior.

𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 🧠

12th May 2026: Medical Faculty of UKM (National University), Neurology Department, Geriatric Department & Nursing Service Medical Department of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) had organized a half day event to celebrate Brain Health Day. The theme is "Healthy Brain, Healthy Life"

The event was officiated by Prof. Dato' Dr. Marina Mat Baki, Dean of Medical Faculty of UKM (National University). Our medical officer, Prof Madya Dr. Rabani Remli, was the Organizing Chairman of the event. There were about 250 participants attended the event.
The program of event also includes sharing sessions on the topic of MND, stroke, dementia, multiple sclerosis and parkinson's disease.

MND Malaysia was invited to participate as an exhibitor during the event day. We had the opportunity to raise awareness about MND to participants of the event which consists mostly of medical professionals including doctors, nurses and undergraduates of medical school.

As usual, visitors to our booth will get to experience on 2 main activities which are "Icy Hand Dip" & "Type with Your Eyes". For "Icy Hand Dip", visitors get to experience on how an MND warriors' body feels like - the numbness & pain. Meanwhile, for "Type with Your Eyes" activity, visitors will learn to "type" with their eyes on the laptop screen without using hands. This activity is to show about the communication tool use by MND warriors when they loose the ability of the hands movement and speech.

All visitors who came to our booth walked away with awareness about MND 😊

𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐠, 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚 💖

5th May 2026: For the very 1st time, we extended our Home Visits out of Klang Valley. We went to Penang to visit two of our MND warriors.

Our new Chairman, En. Zahid, new Vice Chairman, Kak Liza and Ms. Hoay Hoay, staff (Patient Care & Support) visited Mr. G. Saravanan and Mr. Chan Siak Khwan.

[NOTE: Mr. G. Saravanan is Malaysia's only Commonwealth Games athletics gold medalist in 1998 - our Malaysia Hero]

This journey was more than just a visit—it was a truly meaningful, fruitful, and heartwarming experience for our team. Spending precious time with our warriors and their families gave us the opportunity to listen to their stories, understand their daily challenges, and witness their incredible strength, courage, and resilience firsthand. Every conversation deepened our connection and reminded us of the importance of walking this journey together as one family.

For our Exco members and staff, these visits were filled with gratitude and inspiration. It allowed us to know our warriors on a deeper personal level, to better understand their needs, and to strengthen our commitment in providing continuous care, support, and advocacy for the MND community.

For our warriors and their loved ones, the visits brought moments of joy, comfort, and companionship. They shared how much they appreciated the time spent together, the meaningful conversations, and the valuable sharing of experiences, knowledge, and support. Beyond the discussions, it was the warmth of human connection and knowing that they are not alone in this journey that made the day truly special.

Together, we laughed, shared, learned, and created beautiful memories—reminding us that even in the face of challenges, the power of presence, compassion, and community can bring hope and strength.

𝐌𝐍𝐃 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

MND Malaysia successfully organized its annual Family Gathering 2026, bringing together MND warriors, caregivers, volunteers and supporters for a meaningful two-day event held from 17–18 April 2026 at Millennia Village, Seremban, Negri Sembilan.

After a successful similar event held in Taiping, Perak in April 2025, this time a total of 48 participants, including 12 MND warriors and their families, as well as three children below the age of 12, took part in the gathering. The event aimed at fostering friendship, encouragement, connection, provides emotional support, and to create joyful moments for families navigating the challenges of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

The gathering began with a warm sumptous lunch, followed by an engaging team-building activity titled “Photo Scavenger Hunt” where participants including many on wheelchairs were grouped into teams and tasked with clues to solve in and around the resort. Each discovery was celebrated with a group photo, encouraging collaboration, laughter, and shared accomplishment.

In the evening, a vibrant Fellowship Dinner was held with 18 invited guests, comprising long-time donors, supporters, and collaborators. The dinner embraced a lively Cowboy-themed atmosphere, complete with a photo booth and the award of the best dressed participants and a lucky draw session that added excitement to the night. Many of the lucky draw and prizes were sponsored by Vita Medik, Alpro Pharmacy, Millennia Village and individual donors. MND Malaysia wishes to thank all well wishers, supporters for their contributions towards this event.

A highlight of the evening was a heartfelt surprise by Mdm Susan Ho, founder of Millennia Village, who generously contributed RM10,000 towards the work of MND Malaysia. The organization wishes to express its deep gratitude for the meaningful gesture, which will go towards supporting MND warriors and their families.

The dinner also featured inspiring sharing by two MND warriors and a caregiver, offering powerful insights into resilience, hope, and the importance of community support.

In recognition of the unwavering dedication of caregivers, MND Malaysia presented the C.A.R.E. Award to all 12 caregivers present, all deserving pillars of strength to all the warriors. The award reflects four key values:
C – Compassion
A – Advocacy
R – Resilience
E – Empathy
This tribute honoured the vital role caregivers play in the lives of MND warriors.

The gathering concluded on the following day with another team-building activity, the “Lane Challenge” where it was an activity of mix & match and a challenge to wits and skills which further strengthened bonds among participants before the Family Day event comes to a close. MND Malaysia also like to express thanks to Bridge ICD Sdn Bhd for sponsoring and organizing the team building activities.

This Family Gathering reflects MND Malaysia’s ongoing commitment to building a supportive and inclusive community where no one faces MND alone.
