The SWAN Sirjana Camp, a Personal Development Retreat, was held in Kampar, Perak, from 7-9th August 2026, organised for Sikh ladies in Malaysia.
It was successfully conducted with the aim of providing participants with an enriching platform to learn, reflect, connect, and grow together.
The Camp brought together Sikh women from different backgrounds and created a warm and supportive environment for personal development, community engagement, and meaningful interaction.
Through a combination of informative talks, interactive workshops and group activities, participants were encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, share experiences and develop greater confidence in themselves and their ability to contribute to the community.
The Camp was officially inaugurated by Sardar Baldip Singh, Vice President and Head of Legal Bureau of PKR, Perak. In his speech, he lauded the achievements of SWAN as a national organisation that engages, empowers, and elevates Sikh women through its diverse activities. Master Santokh Singh, Past President of KDM, initiator of the revival of Punjabi education in Malaysia, and recipient of Qaum Da Heera award, also addressed the house as a respected community elder. He shared his observations of how SWAN has grown over the years.
The opening session was followed by a hitea.

The evening session of the Camp was Leadership & Community Engagement by Dr Manjit Kaur Luther, a SWAN exco member, who highlighted the important role women can play in strengthening their communities.
Participants explored ways to become more involved, identify community needs, work together, and contribute their time, skills, and ideas towards positive change.
The session encouraged members to be proactive, responsible, and compassionate community leaders while emphasising the importance of teamwork, volunteerism, and supporting one another.
A short session on Sound Therapy by Sukhdev Singh at the end of the first day provided participants with a quiet opportunity for reflection and mindfulness, helped them feel refreshed and re-energised. It was a beautiful way to end the day with calmness, positive energy, and inner peace.
The early morning Aquarobics gave everyone a fresh & energised start of the day.
Managing Stress and Navigating Grief by Sukhdev Singh on Saturday morning addressed an important but often difficult aspect of life.
Participants gained a better understanding of grief, the different ways people experience loss, and the importance of allowing oneself and others time and space to heal.
The session also highlighted the importance of empathy, emotional support, and being there for someone going through a difficult period. It provided participants with practical insights on coping with grief and supporting family and friends with sensitivity and understanding.
The Kampar sightseeing activity was a unique experience to explore the old heritage sites, local delights, and hi tea at Gurdwara Sahib Kampar.
The walk by the West Lake strengthened friendships and recharged the mind and body. Inter group games stimulated creativity and problem solving challenges.
Gala dinner with a big spread of food and performances created so much fun, enjoyment, and laughter with comedy skits, traditional giddha, and group dances.
Sunday early morning Bollyrobics brought together fitness, music, culture and social interaction.
"You Cannot Not Communicate" session by Jespuvan Singh on Sunday morning was highly interactive and focused on developing better communication skills in both personal and community settings.
Participants explored the importance of active listening, clear expression, empathy, body language, and respectful communication.
Through practical exercises and group activities, they learned how effective communication can build trust, prevent misunderstandings, and strengthen relationships.
The interactive workshops, active learning, group discussions, and sharing of experiences encouraged participants to participate actively and learn from one another.
The SWAN Sirjana Camp created an atmosphere where women felt comfortable in expressing their thoughts, discovering their strengths, and gaining new perspectives.
The Camp was a meaningful and enriching experience that successfully combined learning, personal growth, community engagement, and fellowship. It provided participants with valuable knowledge and practical skills while strengthening the bonds among members.
More importantly, the camp inspired women to believe in themselves, communicate with confidence, support one another, and take an active role in their families and communities.
The success of Sirjana Camp reflects SWAN's continued commitment to educating, empowering, and inspiring women at every stage of life.
