*Beyond Limits: The power of sport*

What can parents do to help special needs children improve their social interaction and confidence?

We are honored to invite an experienced speaker, Datin Dayang Mariani to share insights on how sports support the development of children with special needs, as well as to provide a deeper understanding of the Special Olympics (Kuching Chapter).

This forum is exclusively for parents, teachers, and caregivers. Children under the age of 12 are not permitted to attend. To ensure a conducive environment for the forum, all participants are expected to maintain appropriate noise levels throughout the session.

Special Olympics Sarawak, Sibu Chapter proudly organized its very first Unified Basketball Games on 13 December 2025, marking an important milestone as basketball is the newest sport introduced to Special Olympics Sarawak at the beginning of 2025.
A total of five schools, involving 55 athletes and 14 unified partners, participated in the Individual Skills Competition, Team Skills Competition, and 3×3 Unified Basketball events.
Below are the results of 3 x 3 Unified basketball event.
Male:
1st, SMK Lanang 1
2nd, SMK Lanang 2
3rd, SK Perbandaran Sibu No. 4
4th, SJK Uk Daik
5th, SJK Chung Cheng

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to MOMA Water for sponsoring the drinking water, to the volunteers and teachers who came to help, and to the many parents who came to cheer and support the event.

This event also marked the final activity of 2025 for the Special Olympics Sarawak, Sibu Chapter. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Special Olympics Malaysia, everyone who has cared for and supported our movement throughout the year — our dedicated volunteers, coaches, families, and YB Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, YB Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, YB Alice Lau Kiong Yieng and YB Joseph Chieng Jin Ek who believe in our mission and supported us through the MRP fund.

With the support of Special Olympics Asia Pacific and Special Olympics Malaysia, Special Olympics Sarawak (Sibu Chapter) held its annual Inclusive Young Athletes Play Day on 6 December 2026 at the Azman Hashim Community Sports Centre, Sibu Jaya. The event welcomed 120 families from Sibu Jaya Methodist En Ze Kindergarten and SK Sibu Jaya.
It was wonderful to see families coming together to enjoy outdoor activities, have fun, and break a sweat. The most rewarding part was seeing the many cheerful young faces — it made all the hard work worthwhile.
We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to all families, volunteers, teachers, and donors for making this event meaningful and possible.

Dengan sokongan daripada Special Olympics Asia Pacific dan Special Olympics Malaysia, Special Olympics Sarawak (Cawangan Sibu) telah menganjurkan Hari Bermain Atlet Muda Inklusif tahunannya pada 6 Disember 2026 bertempat di Pusat Sukan Komuniti Azman Hashim, Sibu Jaya. Acara ini telah mengalu-alukan penyertaan 120 keluarga dari Tadika Methodist En Ze Sibu Jaya dan SK Sibu Jaya.
​Amat menggembirakan melihat keluarga-keluarga berkumpul untuk menikmati aktiviti luar, berseronok, dan berpeluh. Bahagian yang paling bermakna ialah melihat begitu banyak wajah muda yang ceria — ia menjadikan segala usaha keras ini berbaloi.
​Kami ingin merakamkan penghargaan setinggi-tingginya kepada semua keluarga, sukarelawan, guru, dan penderma kerana menjadikan acara ini bermakna dan dapat direalisasikan.
