In conjunction with the upcoming Gawai Festival, Persatuan Wanita UTS organised the “Gawai Gift Basket” welfare programme with the theme “Giving with Heart, Celebrating Together” on 22 May 2026 at the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS).

The programme aimed to support students from the Iban and Bidayuh communities through the contribution of essential food supplies and daily necessities by UTS staff members.

The distribution ceremony was attended by the Acting Vice Chancellor of UTS, Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohammad Shahril Bin Osman; Yang Dipertua of Persatuan Wanita UTS, Madam Aspa’ Aida Bt Mohamad; Bursar of UTS, Dr. Rabuan Mantine; Head of the Welfare Committee of Persatuan Wanita UTS, Madam Nadira Binti Abdul Rahman; Head of the Academic Resource Centre, UTS, Miss Roselind Duat; as well as the organising committee members.

This initiative reflects UTS’s commitment to fostering a caring and inclusive university community.

Persatuan Wanita UTS Annual Dinner 2026 Celebrates Culture and Sisterhood
Persatuan Wanita Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS) successfully hosted its Annual Dinner 2026 at RH Hotel, themed “Ethnic Glam” on 14 May 2026.

The event brought together guests and members of the UTS community for an evening of culture, performances, and fellowship. The programme featured a welcoming cultural performance by Sri Tari Kenyalang Club, speeches by Madam Aspa Aida Hj Mohamad and Guest of Honour Yang Berbahagia Datin Dayang Mariani Abang Zain, as well as a commemorative montage highlighting the association’s activities and achievements.

Guests also enjoyed a buffet dinner, karaoke, lucky draw sessions, and the Ethnic Glam Best Dressed Award, followed by lively traditional performances and Poco-poco dance.

It was indeed a memorable night of culture, unity, and sisterhood.

A Day in White

One day after the handover ceremony, Universiti Teknologi Sarawak was beautifully adorned with women in white as Persatuan Wanita UTS gathered for a special photoshoot session with Datin Dayang Mariani Abang Zain.

This meaningful moment was captured to commemorate her presence, support, and contributions to the association. May the memories shared continue to inspire and strengthen the bond within Persatuan Wanita UTS as we move forward together.

Sharing Kindness and Togetherness This Ramadan with Persatuan Wanita UTS

In the true spirit of Ramadan, Persatuan Wanita UTS came together on 27 February 2026 to prepare and share special dishes with the community through a gotong-royong initiative.

Members from diverse ethnic backgrounds worked hand in hand to pack hundreds of portions of Bubur Lambuk, with 500 packs distributed to members of the public at Dataran Sibu by Datin Dayang Mariani and Prof. Datuk Dr. Khairuddin. An additional 200 packs of Bubur Lambuk were delivered to Surau Pusat Islam UTS.

Additionally, 200 packs of Bubur Kacang Hijau, prepared by Persatuan Wanita UTS members, were shared with UTS staff, while the remaining packs were sent to Pusat Islam for the Majlis Berbuka Puasa 2026, organised by Surau Pusat Islam UTS.

The programme reflected the values of unity, generosity, and togetherness, reminding us that the joy of Ramadan is best experienced when shared.
