The Montfort Boys’ Town staff gathered for a two-day Montfortian Staff Retreat themed “Called to Serve with Love.” The retreat offered a meaningful pause from daily responsibilities, allowing participants to reflect on God’s call to serve with love, compassion and faithfulness.
Guided by prayer, reflection, group sharing and interactive sessions, staff journeyed together in the spirit of St. Louis Marie de Montfort. The retreat was facilitated by Mr. Zerah Goh, Executive Director of Montfort Centre, Singapore and Mr. Frederick Mah, Director of Montfort Youth Training Centre, Sabah. Both retreat masters led participants into a deeper understanding of vocation, discipleship and service rooted in faith.
The retreat opened with Session 1: God Calls You, highlighting the gentle yet persistent nature of God’s call. Participants reflected on intentional discipleship and their personal response to God’s invitation in their daily lives and work.
Session 2: Come, Follow Me invited participants to respond to Jesus’ call with trust and courage, letting go of fears, attachments and the need for control. The life of St. Louis de Montfort served as a strong example of radical surrender and reliance on God.
The second day focused on suffering, hope and mission.
Session 3: Serving at the Cross reminded participants that challenges and suffering can become places of encounter with God’s wisdom, grace and deeper joy.
The retreat concluded with Session 4: Life to the Full, centred on John 10:10. Participants were encouraged to embrace a life of abundance by serving generously, loving concretely and remaining faithful to their mission.
The retreat ended with group presentations, integration and prayer. It left participants renewed in spirit, strengthened in unity and more deeply committed to serving with love in the Montfortian spirit.
