ECOFreeMarket (EFM) is an eco-chairty platform, evolved from the FreeMarket movement in Malaysia since 2015. With support from Local Authorities especially MBSA, and other NGO ie TAAT Foundation, Food Aid Foundation etc, EFM has developed a community of givers, where kindness is our currency. The title 'ECOFreeMarket' reflects Local Authority effort towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) espe
cially for Sustainable community and Low Carbon City Initiatives. From recent interview with Ms Sarah Lee, co founder of ECOFreeMarket (EFM)
We work with Local Authority and local NGOs to create platform that enable community give away or take preloved items from each other, in an organised and civilised manner as espoused by our 8 adab EFM. We have created EFM at every level and local authority to assist the delivery of our programs led by a local EFM Facilitator. The largest event is in Shah Alam co-organised with MBSA. We have also set up Kedai Amal EFM unit to encourage donations of preloved items and organic produce within the community. Items will be sold at very affordable price to all EFM members who had signed up the EFM Mobile App. We have established ECOFreeMarket Education unit to organise EFM events in Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges since 2018. We are working with Felda to have a series of EFM in all 317 Felda settlements starting with Lurah Bilut in Pahang. We are committed to organise over 60 EFM in Federal Territory ie in every PPR together with our partner NGO Persatuan Lestari Alam Malaysia. The purpose is to give way things you don't need anymore, which otherwise they will become a burden to you once you passed on, if no one is managing your assets or belongings. With this understanding the community would be encouraged to give away what otherwise become junks in the storage. Products and services which are offered usually consists of homeware items like clothing, shoes, kitchen stuff, utensils, gifts, books, light furniture, as well as plants, vegetables, food eg cookies, cakes, nasi lemak etc. Sometimes bicycle and children toys are offered, they are highly demanded. We have had barbers, health check ups, opticians, pharmacies etc giving free consultancy and services to target recipients. Contributors are most welcome to register with us for every event being held at various locations. There are phone numbers available in the poster for each event. You are encouraged to participate by attending to the giving away part yourselves. The organiser would provide small booth or space for you to do so. Please bring your family to take part in this noble activity. Browse our FB 'ECOFreeMarket' for information
