Solidarity Association For Travel & Tours Agency Malaysia was invited to join the launching of The Umrah, Hajj International Tourism Fair at Four Seasons Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. President, DrFathir Alhadad represented SAFTTA on the occasion.

This event brought together tourism stakeholders from Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, reflecting the growing interest in travel, cultural exchange, and tourism cooperation between the two countries. Platforms such as these play an important role in facilitating industry engagement, promoting destination awareness, and encouraging greater travel exchanges between both markets.

Following recently FAM Trip organised by , C.E.O. Pn Hjh Noorul had a brief tea catch up with Ms Ekaterina, Deputy Trade Representative, Representative of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

The discussion gives an opportunity to exchange views on recent tourism developments in both Malaysia and Russia especially in preparation to visa free for Malaysian, direct flight Malaysia = Russia as well as payment getaways in Russia. Not to forget some idea exchange on Muslim Friendly initiatives.

It was a simple but useful exchange on where things stand and what to look at next in celebrating the 60th anniversary of our diplomatic relations in 2027.

During our last visit to Russia recently, SAFTTA always raise the importance of visa-free for Malaysian to attract more tourists to Russia.

Seems they are listening.

The MOU Signing Ceremony between SAFTTA x industry partners in Russia marks the beginning of exciting opportunities, shared vision and future initiatives together. Representing SAFTTA is our President, Dr. Fathir Alhadad.

1. 𝑲𝑨𝒁𝑨𝑵 𝑭𝑶𝑹𝑼𝑴
SAFTTA had the opportunity to joined the 'round table' with Kementerian Pelancongan, Seni dan Budaya Malaysia , Islamic Tourism Centre and Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau in a 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧–𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧: 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧–𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬. This session is important in strengthening the relationship between the Russian and Malaysian creative industries.

2. 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒊 𝑬𝒍 𝑹𝒆𝒑𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄, 𝑹𝒖𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒂
During our meeting with the 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲, 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢 𝐄𝐥, 𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐫. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐯 𝐈𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐊𝐫𝐲𝐥𝐨𝐯, SAFTTA has taken the opportunity to promote Malaysia as a Muslim Friendly tourist destination. Being a Muslim himself, he has more understanding on the important of Muslim & Halal market. He has invited us to share more information on the issues on next visit.
In addition, SAFTTA also has an opportunity to held discussions with Tour Operators from Mari El. This engagement networking is important for us to understand the needs of tourist from Mari El.

3. 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒖𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒂
SAFTTA also held a 'round table' discussion with 𝐌𝐫. 𝐒𝐦𝐨𝐥𝐧𝐢𝐤𝐨𝐯 𝐃𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐢, 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐲 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 Center for Strategic Initiatives - Discover Russia, an agency under the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism of Russia. The discussion was focus on the ways to increase joint cooperation in promoting tourism between our two countries. SAFTTA was been informed of a 50% increase in Malaysian tourist visited Russia throughout 2025. Meanwhile, there was also an increase of almost 13% in Russian tourist arrivals to Malaysia for the period of January to March 2026. Discover Russia also showed interest in holding further discussions on Muslim Friendly campaign with SAFTTA.
Before returning to Malaysia, SAFTTA held a business networking session with tour operators from Moscow. This initiative will certainly provide significant returns to Russian tourist arrivals to Malaysia, especially with the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign which is currently gaining momentum.
