Impact of Climate Change on Infrastructure Assets
The effects of climate change on civilization may be significantly influenced by how the world's infrastructure develops during the next 50 years. Infrastructure will require more funding, as well as new types of support.
Risks go beyond infrastructure. Failure to adapt will result in costs for owners and operators as well as the exposure and vulnerability of entire communities if climate change is not taken into account during the design, building, and maintenance of infrastructure assets.
By lowering costs associated with infrastructure damage caused by climate change and by preventing severe ripple effects in broader society, adaptation can generate a significant return.
